Newest CL-S owner

Hi everybody! I smurfed this board a for a couple of weeks while looking for my next car- the 99 TL-P wouldn't do it for me anymore. Just bought my CL-S yesterday, and hopefully if everything goes through today, I'll be bringing that baby home tonight!

It's a 2001, no nav, black/black, 99K miles (yipes!). I paid $11K for it from a very nice lady lives out in Long Island. She was the first and only owner of the car, never been to an accident, car is as clean as it gets.

The transmission has been replaced to a rebuilt one at 40something K miles, so I shouldn't have to worry about it going on me soon Is there anything else I should do with the car, being it's probably going to hit 100K as I'm driving it home? I'm very loyal to Honda/Acura, my last 2 cars were a 95 Accord EX and a 99 TL.

Pics to come soon

Thanks everybody!

Hey dude, congrats on the new ride and welcome to the board!

As for the tranny, the fact that it was replaced 60K ago is no indication that you're safe from experiencing the same problem again. In fact, I would be very weary of someone selling a CL/TL at the 99K mark, since the extended warranty on the tranny expires at 100K. It just seems to much like she was selling the car before it's too late - much like what I did with my piece of shit 94 Golf that was full of problems.

But hopefully you'll never have to worry about it, and you can enjoy your new ride for many many years! I don't mean to scare ya with this post, but just keep in mind that it's something you must be on the look-out for.

Good luck!

Congrats bro... Well the auto tranny has had issues, but with the tranny cooler I have noticed a lot smoother of a shift... I have also changed the tranny fluid to redline sync....

With me being SC'd and boosting alot so far no issues... Fellow SC owners who have the auto tranny haven't blown the tranny.....

Good luck with ur mods... and welcome to the forum...

Oh yeah definitely, I was a bit suspicious of the 99K mark too, but I figure it was worth a look. Turns out the lady had a for sale sign on her lawn as well as her car. She has done most of the services at the dealer and has papers for them. I know some people here went through 3+ trannys in under 100K, let's just hope it won't happen to me! =)

Should I have the timing belt/water pump changed out also? Or I can wait another 20K?
