the new XJ
the new XJ
I just took out a brand new XJ8 for a test drive today and HOLY SHIT...that car is fucking amazing! I loved everything about the car: the smooth lines, the potent 300hp 4.2L V8, the quality of the leather, the real wood trim, the comfort and support of the seats, etc...
I've driven a '00 S500 and a '98 740i and I enjoyed driving this car a lot more. This is quite possibly one of the best cars I've driven...evAR.
If anyone here is in the market for an S-Class or a 7-series, I'd definitely recommend they go for a test drive.

I have driven the S-Type R and that is a nice machine.
my friend let me drive his xkr conv. and boy did i fall in love.
I have always had a love for Jag's. I just love their classic design. Whether the X-type is a pos or not, everytime i see one I admire it. Same goes for the S-type, XJ, and XK of course.

It should be amazing, its a $60k car. If you want to be even more impressed, go drive the new XJR.

The list simply tells what age group those cars belong to in my eyes. You said XJ is an excellent car, I definitely agree, otherwise no one would pay $56k+ for it especially when there are so many other choices in the market. However, no matter how comfortable how well it handles how luxurious and how fast it is, its look gives me an "old and super mature" feeling. The performance of the car would not make any difference about my impression towards this particular car. Therefore, whether I have driven it or not doesn't matter. When all other luxurious cars have their exterior stylings evolved somehow, why does Jaguar still maintain this almost identical style for tens of years? Probably because Jaguar or Ford believes this British noble looks suits its market image, and it probably does. But I am sure this style hasn't changed much since my grandfather passed away.
p.s. If you give an XJ or a 911 as a gift to ten young people and let them decide which one they want, I can tell you nine out of ten would pick 911 or may be even all ten pick 911. You might say I am shallow since I judge a car based on its look, no I don't judge a car ONLY based on its look, but look is the number one factor in the way I choose a car.
XJ's are targeted towards the same market as the S-Class, 7-series, and A8's, which I see are usually driven by men in their late 40's and early 50's. Most old people I see are driving around in Town Cars, Crown Vic's, Buicks, and other domestic boats.
