New Wheel Pics

The car is filthy but who cares.

Well I got them finally. I love that the valve stems are matching silver so until they get stolen I will love that. The wheel installer, while pointing to my stock rims says, "now you have four almost new boat anchors." He exaggerated some because at just over 20lbs the BBS aren't much lighter than the stock Enkei's, which are about 25lbs. Funny thing is I like the BBS classic look but I also would like to be able to bring my car to a carwash for the first time. So I ask the dealer, how do I care for these rims? He says, "Number 1, don't go to a carwash". HAH! I ask, is it the offset (+45)? He says no. He says if you've been driving a while and then go to a carwash and they spray cold water on your brakes and rotors, thats bad. This can be bad for your brakes, especially the rotors. Warping and such? Also some of the detergents if in extreme water temps can etch the wheels finish. So I guess its still wash by hand for me.

He continued that I should return after 100 miles for retorqueing the lugs and thats it.

Click twice if you want high rez and have a quick connect.

Two things I'll never understand:

*Why anyone would buy 17" rims for our car (instead of 18s or 19s).

*Why anyone would buy rims that have pieces that can be stolen off them or might pop off if you hit a bump.

They do look nice though. A little small, but nice.

1) Because 18 and 19 might not fit on a lowered car. No rubbing here please.

2) Because 18 and 19 ride rougher than 17 and take a look at your ride, it IS primarily a luxury ride and NOT a sports car.

3) Because 18 and 19 are heavier.

....puff, puff, puff

4)Because 18 and 19 get bent easier.

5) Because 18 and 19 make the body of the car look smaller. The CL isn't long looking enough and with 18 n 19 the body gets fatter looking. Kiddie car is not my preference.

Now as for the stems I had no idea until they installed them. Besides they wont "fall" off because they do screw on more than the regular black caps.

I hear ya. I gotta think about selling my stock rollers. You going to the meet? If so I'll let you know then. Sorry dude but I'm not jerking your chain just trying to decide what to do because if I sell or trade in my car the stockers would make it easier.

It looks tight! I was considering the RX before I got mine. Very classy, I still prefer 18's, but that's just me! Anyways, great look and stay away from those car washes! I'll NEVER go to a "touch-less" (HA!) carwash again! It's hand wash by me or by someone else.

Looks real nice. I have white with springs, sways and ACE 17*7.5 wheels. I would suggest having your mud flaps matched it made a nice clean look on mine.

I, too, went with BBS RK wheels and stayed with 17" size. I don't care about going to 18" so it worked for me. Not all of us are into "significant changes" to our cars.

Currently I'm riding the stock tires. Don't like that much but I'll have to scape another 7 - 8 hundred to get new rubber.
Maybe increase the size to 225? Anybody think they're will be rubbing issues?

My tire guy said that 225 is the largest you can go without rubbing. The stock rubber looks good on the 7.5 wheel. I may just get the stock size in a toyo.

Looks great, Al.

I've been wanting to go with 17" BBS RX for quite some time now. One of these days I'll have the money.

I think you can go with 235s and won't rub. I know Mike has 235's on his car with the Comptech springs. Of course, his wheels are different. But I'm pretty sure you don't have to worry about 235's rubbing on our car unless you have 18s.
