wat is the reccomended time to change a 6 speed manual transmission oil and what is the best oil to use like the smoothest shifting

it's a debate between amsoil and GM synromesh.

consult your owner's manual for the replacement schedule.

all you need is 3 qts of honda ATF and 1 crush washer.
There is a filter for our trannies but it is rarely known. not even the techs at the dealers know about it.

I heard from the dealer today they can hook up a machine and do a full flush. The tank is filled with new ATF, they flip it on, push out the old, plug it back up and circulate in the new.

Sounds easy peasy for those who aren't DIY types.

Glad I could start an informative thread: that was my goal.

but actually it didn't matter that I changed the fluid, my Transmission went out April 25th...a mere month after I changed the fluid. I thought (and greatly hoped!!) that I could get away with JUST changing the fluid to fix the problems I had in my tranny which was slipping, and ultimately failed. so i guess waiting until 90,000miles was a bit too late...

I had to go to the Acura dealer when my tranny started getting worse again, after it did get smoother when i first changed the fluid. It cost me $3500 for a new, Stronger rebuilt Tranny. It came with a 3 year warranty. NOW my transmission is perfect!!! the rebuilt transmission is really strong, and no problems whatsoever after 2 months on it...when the 3 year warranty is up though, I'm selling my car...

If it was me, i wouldnt even replace the tranny. I would just get a different car.................but thats just me

but honda/acura clearly does not recommend doing any type of flush on the trannies. It states that if the fluid is contaminated or something to do 3 ATF fluid changes. The 3x3 is endorsed by honda, the flush is not recommended. The reason is because a flush will stir up the clutch pack material, which could potentially clog the fluid passages in the tranny. I think i remember someone saying that their tranny failed a month after a flush, a long time ago. Use at your own risk.

So 3x3 you mean drain 3 qts., add 3, drive the car, drain 3 again, add 3, drive it, drain 3, add 3, done?

Yes sir..
everytime y pull the plug only 3 quarts will drain so you gotta add 3 more so the new goes in then pushes the older from the tq converter. make sure you go through all the gears and reverse then repeat.. people say the 3x3 is 12 quarts but I have no clue where they learned there mulitiplication tables.
our tranny has 7.6quarts i belive so 9 quarts should get 90-99% of the old out cuz some of it will mix. If u do this u might also wanna change your tranny filter part # 25450-p7w-003..

Dont let the dlr tell u we dont have a tranny filter cuz we do and thats the part# i fought with 2 dlrs and then after i gave them the part number they sat there scrating there heads!

Are the v-tec oil pressure switches interchangeable? It would be interesting to have the A2 engagement come on 400 RPM lower I think!

I also heard that if you HAVE NOT changed your fluid 100k+ then let it be cuz the new fluid will indeed loosen all the grit in the tranny and will go into your clutch packs thats why u should change at least 3 quarts 15-30K.
When the car came out they said flush at 90k then 3 years later it was 60k now the newest bullitin is saying 30k.. so I do it 30 k or earlier now.
I belive if u flush 3 and fill 3 every 15-20k u should be good no need to do 9x9 ever 30k..

u should change part #12 and 13 they are 3 and 4th gear clutch pack pressure switches i belive.. But i was told by honda/acura techs that i am friends with to change both of these every 50-75k miles keep the tranny shifting smooth!
