Is the new TL faster than 2nd Gen TL/CL?
I have been reading some posts on the TL section and some people say the new TL is faster than the 2nd gens. I heard the new one was overrated at 270 and that its actually 258 hp, and that throtle is not as responsive as the Type-S. Did anyone ever race the new TL (auto and stock)?

from what i've read from mags and this forum, it seems that the TL is the equal of the Type S' in both 0-60 times and quarter miles. don't you live in LA, juruki? if so, check out the meet/events thread for the upcoming SoCal meet.

i raced a couple and havent had any problems beating them by a couple of cars. I dont know if they were stick but they all seem pretty upset when they can't catch up

Three Wheelin'
I watched three of them race at a track one day over and over, and the best time I saw was a 15.3. With my stock Type-S (back then) I ran a 14.7. Go figure. I do like the new TL's BTW but I'm just saying I haven't seen a good run yet.

My Aspec TL, however, will run circles around any stock TL-S in the handling dept.

Same here i've raced a few 04-05TLs and while they are quick my CLS seems to be able to outrun them. I've had for a few weeks a 05TL/NAVI and i can stay, it just dont seem to have the kick you get from the CLS, once Vtec kicks in....
Anyone know if the New TL is heaver, that would explain why, or else i've been racing shitty drivers. But then again there was one time where we both floored it somewhere around 120mph, the CLS seemed to be getting away more than at 80mph.

The TL is about 300 lbs heavier, I'm definately gonna run my boy in his 3g tomorrow if it's dry out because when we ran the last time he had me but was never pulling on me. I think once either car gets the jump on the other neither will catch it, but I don't see the 3g Tl putting more than 1 car length on a CL-S or TL-S or vice versa. There is only 2-300 lbs difference and less than 10ft torque difference.

Stock auto vs Stock auto my 2nd Gen has yet to lose. I have read though that there is something goofy with the 3rd gen when they try to torque brake, that it hesitates when they let off the gas which kind of kills the launch, which would explain alot. Plus us 2nd gens have the option of complete control to run up 1st gear (gate shift first)a little higher into redline where as 3rd gen can't at least thats what happened in the 3rd gen loaner I had.

I haven't had a chance to run one yet.
I thought I could get one to bite last night, but cops have been everywhere lately so we kept it cool.

so apparently there is no need for a poll in here. the CL/TL-S wins hands down. then again, what results would we see if we staged a poll in the lair of the 3G TLs?!

I bet there are plenty of stories in the 3G TL section of Type S kills.

When my 02 TL-S was in the shop having the tranny replaced, I had a 04' TL/Nav for 3 days and it did feel quicker off the line, like it had more down low response then my TLS. On hwy passing power, my TL-S felt quicker. Just my 2 cents~

Yes, my car is modded now but when i was stock i still beat them! Mostly out of the hole, like somebody mentioned, and they couldn't catch up. Both of are cars are quick but the cl-s' vtec seems to hit a lot harder then the 3rd gen and the launch is better.

We have a better torque band...and we give up only 10 hp which when dyno'd is like 8 hp....
I dont believe they are using the dual stage TB that we have.....and they give up like 20 lbs./torque to us....

I see the same torque figure..but that time at which it peaks seems high....5000rpms. We reach max torque from 3500-5000.....a nice flat torque curve.
