New times this weekend

Just out of curiosity and due to the cold weather this weekend I decided to run 0-60 again. Remember these times are not an absolute, just relative to previous runs.

Last winter I made some runs after the headers were installed and with the temperature reading 28 degrees. At that time I was able to click off low 5.7s with a best of 5.67. Saturday I made some new runs with the temperature reading 40 degrees. The only difference to the car from those previous runs was the addition of the AEM pulleys and the Kumho tires, 225/45/17.

The runs netted low 5.6s with a best of 5.59. One noticeable difference came in the launch. Where before I would get some slip now I got some wheel hop with the associated slipping. But it did feel like it grabbed quicker. Where the gains are attributable I can’t absolutely say but maybe a little from both.

Steve, can you extrapolate your best run to a 1/4 time? my guess would be 13.9x to 14.0x
Also do you have any idea why you are now experiencing wheel hop?

I used a GTech/Pro for the times. In all instances I ran at the same place while leveling in my garage prior to the runs (which really is moot since I now strap it to the center arm rest which if centered is leve).

However, as mentionedx, I do not take these times as an absolute. They are strictly for comparisson of prevous runs made at the same spot. This would be to verify that gains were made or lost but not give an actual time value.

Although I do feel that with all circumstances considered (mods, ambient conditions, etc.) and with the same unit measuring other cars at the same spot while acheiving numbers close to the magazines; this number may not be off much. However, I'm just currently looking for comparison values.

With ll of this said I'd rather not try to extrapolate a 1320' ET. I'd like to try to make it that far but it is difficult with the road turning uphill and going through a turn shortly after I hit the 60 MPH mark.

The wheel hop was a surprising aspect. Taller tread and more grip I guess would be the reason. Seemed to be on the passenger side only, longer half shaft??
