New From Tesla

No, not the band...

Fairly interesting. Should really be interesting in trying to get a tach feed for all of the variety of cars out there...

yeah, an induction sender wouldn't work for cars with individual coil-on-sparkplug assemblies...

That does look interesting. Four accelerometers? Wow, and I thought the original could do a lot with just the one... It says "no installation" so I doubt they'll need a tach feed. It says RPMs are measured with an "intense DSP paired with a powerhouse ARM processor and very sophisticated software". Ooooh... (Obviously it was a marketing guy and not an engineer who wrote that.) They say available in winter 2002 but I hope that means Jan or Feb (and I hope it's priced under $300). Looks good!

Actually, my first thought with your title was the washed-up band since they are playing the state fair here next week... :P

I've been harping on the lack of differential operation to keep the unit honest with the car squatting (pitch) (2-accelerometers required for differential operation). To correct the yaw, 2-more accelerometers should be added.

IMO -- If they did this right, it should finally be accurate on ALL cars.

I will probably buy one...
