New SC Pulley
In the interest of pursuing more power along with further testing the capabilities of the blower I got the higher boost pulley in yesterday.
Comptech did a wonderful job in making a kit for all states. But knowing where they are located and the gasoline available there I know they are being conservative (and rightfully so). I live in a part of the country which has the best prices and quality fuel available. Not to mention I have been running lower ECT temps due to the T-Stat and Fan Switch for nearly six months now without a problem. In all I felt like I would not be in danger due to running lower temps and better fuel. So I got the lower boost pulley.
I need to say that the standard pulley is great. It has provided seamless gains in power to the point to where the vehicle moves out with authority. Having put a few miles on it now I can now feel that the power has become obsessive. It is all too easy to move out in front of traffic and dare I say, this is certainly pulling harder than my old Typhoon (barring launching from a stop) and definitely harder than my GTP. Now gearing does play a part but it is certainly satisfying. I pulled ahead from lesser cars today from 40 MPH in 4th at a decent rate and feel.
First off, this is not a change to the SC pulley, it remains the same. This is a change to the double alternator pulley so the install is not as simple as i had hoped for. But to my amazement, I was able to remove the other pulley without removing the SC. This can bee seen in the pics below. It took me about twenty minutes to get the pulley off but I was committed to other duties so I never finished. That is left for tomorrow along with a follow up post.
Here is how I was able to reach the alternator pulley, this shows the pulley removed. It helps to have an impact gun with a 1/2 inch drive extension.
The two below pics are of the pulleys. The one on the left is the new, higher boost pulley. Notice how it is larger. Had the SC pulley been replaced it would have been smaller. It is all about drive ratios...

I haven't installed it yet to know what the boost will be but I suspect that it will be about a pound to a pound and a half more. I was runnign about 3.0 - 3.5 with the standard pulley.
I got the pulley from Comptech.
And yes, a dyno will soon follow.

Try this just to see how close it ends up. I was told 1 psi for every 1/2" larger diameter. Compare the two pully diameters and see if that's close when it's installed.

That doesn't quite work out. It would depend on the initial pulley sizes and percentage change. The pulley is in now and the car has been warmed up; put through several cycles. But I'll have to wait until the morning to test it.
But based on initial calculations there should be about 1.5 PSI more boost. I'll report in the morning about the actual numbers.

I just took it for a quick run, the boost was running just shy of 5.5 PSI. To my surprise, there was a noticeable power gain, it was excellent.
1st gear would break loose before when rolling on the throttle, but now it completely spun. Of course the power came on sooner and lasted all the way to redline.
After I get a few more miles on it I'll report back on it. But for now I am very pleased.

heres a dumb question for you buddy,
since u've just increased you boost by almost 2psi (from ~3.5 to ~5.5psi), how much additional hp do u think you picked up at the wheels? Just an educated estimate?
