Exclamation New rules for the CL forum

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/posting-rules-guidelines-please-read-718919/

We've always let people go with the flow and post whatever they wanted here. People were respectful to others, friendly, and helpful. That hasn't been the case here lately. The moderation staff has been tasked by the administration with making the forum a kinder, gentler place...

Because of a few bad apples, things are going to change around here. We didn't need to tell people the rules before, but we do now.

If you've acted like an adult previously, thanks, we truly appreciate it. BUT if you've acted like a child, you will be treated like one. You'll be warned, temp banned, and if the behavior continues, you'll be permanently banned from the site.

We just want current members to contribute in a positive way.... and make this forum more welcoming to new members.

The rules can basically be summed up as this: "If you've got nothing good to say, then say nothing at all".

Please review the rules here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=718919

We thank you in advance for your co-operation,

2G CL moderation staff

That's what we're trying to promote here... mutual respect...

I definitly think its a good idea to enforce the rules. I've been here a little over a year and noticed a few "bad apples." Just the other day I was reading some posts and was disappointed with the way some people were behaving. You shouldn't be afraid to post something because others may flame you or call you stupid. We are all here to help others, nobody made us join this forum.

Its good to know that the staff at Azine is set on making this a friendly forum. And it absolutly won't kill anyone to answer some noob questions. Just give a friendly response and nicely suggest that the "noobs" search, the forum is full of GREAT info. Like my parents always said: If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all; and no question is a stupid question.

Glad to see this being put into place. I enjoyed the forum when I first joined, hopefully we can get it back to the way it used to be.

as long as everything is running smooth, the ban hammer won't be coming down as often as you think.

I will say i get tired of seeing people constantly saying "search, search, search" and then proceeding to make the person feel like an idiot because he didnt take an hour of his time to sift foward and back through a clutter of worthless posts (in search of the one post somewhere that someone typed 2 years ago).... or because he couldnt search for a 3 letter word like EGR or MAF or HRE or the dozen other 3 letter words you cant search for.

Id like to be able to have an honest opinion when i think someones wheels or mods dont look good. If they ask for an opinion or post pictures in hopes of approval and dont get it, they should develop a little thicker skin.

Believe it or not, some people actually browse from their phones and might not have a full keyboard. Most smart phones these days have full keyboards so it would not apply. I have the AT&T tilt phone and it has the full keyboard. I was doing some firmware updates one time and messing with some rom kitchens for a while so I switched my sim into my old razr phone for about a week. When you get used to using your phone for internet browsing it became a PIA using the number pad to type out full sentences. Regardless, it can't be that important that you can't type out full sentences so I have to agree that it is annoying to read posts that look like texts.

Even without the keyboard, there is T9/word completion. I have heard people say T9 is annoying however, I found it very useful on my very old nextel from way back.

So since when is controversy not good entertainment? Sounds like the new rules will make the site more boring.

I was just stating my opinion in a non dickhead manner. No need to be rude, and this is exactly how immature arguments get started fyi

There was nothing immature about what I said. Stop trying to moderate me. You aren't AZ staff.

Your opinion is exactly why we have bad apples crapping up good threads. This isn't an argument, drop it.

As explained before, in the model forums we want everybody to feel welcome and give out good help when needed.

These model forums are not for controversy or entertainment. That's what the off topic forums are for.

If you want some excitement or entertainment, head over to ramblings

As for boring, that was addressed in the rules:

These rules are not designed to take the fun out of posting. Their main purpose is to keep this forum civil. This is not a mens locker room. Im not saying we cant have discussions here. We just need to be mature about it.
I've been on forums that are civil and aren't boring... Heck, the CL forums used to be like that. Personally, I'm tired of older members saying that the forums here aren't what they used to be...

We want to encourage people to post without having them worry about e-thugs giving them a hard time. More people post, more info is exchanged new ideas are expressed, and you don't get bored. How's that sound ??

^ that's understandable but we can't all agree with everything everyone does. There has to be different opinions and there's going to be arguing which isn't always bad. I mean we can't all pretend we like everyone and be fake

On another note, I don't see anything wrong with what DAVE said

I agree with what you are saying, but a little controversy could not hurt.

Thanks BEAST

I agree on the controversy bit. A little won't hurt because yes, nobody's opinions are going to be the same at any given point.

FWIW, I took your comment the wrong way. Forgive me for sounding harsh.

I hoped to see something positive coming from this. I see so many new people get flamed or verbaly abused for asking a question.

i think the problem is that most ramblings members are also members of the cl subforum. so when theres downtime in the ramblings part we head over here and see potential victims. i know ive been guilty of starting arguements before, or assisting in them (i said ass lol)but i do think the forum should be put back to where it was a year ago
