The DVD format was utilized to support more data, allowing the 48 mainland states to be on 1 DVD disc.
The "old" HDD systems held a maximum of 520MB data(in 1999), only one regional coverage area, so reprogramming the HDD was necessary when traveling from region to region.

i thought acura came out with the navi updates in the fall. 2.04 is for 5/2001? something's fishy...
