hello!
im 28 and just bought a 03 6mt from Ga with sketchyness all over it. 185k miles. 2 days after purchasing it I moved to Mass.. the car starting making a slight squeaking sound, similar to a wet belt. The serpentine/accessory belt is new b/c the PS pump was replaced according to car fax, and the sound was definitely not coming from that area..

its only apparent at idle, and driving less than 3000 rpm.
A couple days after that, I started feeling the car misfiring, no CEL though..

from my s2000 experience, I figured it might need a Valve adjustment and spark plugs. The squeaking sound made me worry about the timing belt.

I took the car to a mechanic. He found:
old spark plugs slowly backing out, improperly torqued and were due for a change.

Did the timing belt, water pump(old one had no leaks), all the tensioners and stuff.

one of the major mounts was busted so he replaced that.

however, after getting the car back,

The squeaking/chirping sound persists. The engine is no longer misfiring.
It sounds like crickets chirping

I'm not sure what to do...it is very annoying.., anyone have an ideas from potential experiences? Thanks!!!

Does it go away when you press in the clutch? I've noticed that the valve ticking noise is more noticeable under deceleration.

could be a pulley going bad. best way to check is to remove the serpentine belt and spin each pulley. if it feels rough or tight its probably the one making the noise.
