New member, random questions

Hey all, well I just purchased a 03 CLS manual. I have had a crush on these cars for quite some time and have just been waiting for the right one to come around in the auctions. I have a dealers license and buy my cars wrecked and fix em up. My 97 CL was getting a little old for me so this one came round just in time. Haha, maybe the old owner was around on these boards. Its an 03 CL-S with 77k, Charcoal with all the goodies from the Metro DC area. It took an odd hit with damage to both left and right front sides but not the front directly. Anyway, when I get it back from my body man I will post some pics. Ok so a few questions. It idles a bit rough...I dont know if the car has had a tune up but do most of you feel like this motor needs a tune up regularly? Also, at what mileage have you all changed the timing belt? Looks like I may be doing both of these jobs as soon as I get the car back from the body man. I also really want to keep the leather in good shape since I plan on keeping this car for some time....Can any of you all recommend a good leather conditioner for these perforated seats? Any other info that may be of interest to me would be great too. I drove the car to my body man and I absolutely love the feel and power of the car!!

The timing belt replacement is 7 years or 105k, you are also supposed to replace the water pump at that time.

Welcome aboard! For my leather I use Black Magic pro shine protectant as my choice. I think it is best but their are many choices out there, some of my friends think the smell isn't pleasant, but I think it smells fine.

You could check your motor mounts for the rough idling. I'd also replace your spark plugs.

Welcome!
Check out the FAQ this should answer many questions.....

Your IAC valve could need replacement. Timing belt change at the interval stated. But again this is all covered in the FAQ.
