New member of the CL family

Hi guys~ after looking for the car that will get me through my college years, I decided and bought a used 01' CL-S (with navi). It had ~120k miles, but for $6k, I figured...it was worth it, since it had some of the mods that I was looking to get anyways.

It's a NBP/tan combo, and came with comptech header/exhaust. The only bad thing was that it came with some rims that I'm not very fond of : whyme:

Anyhow, I needed some info about which CAI most people are buying nowadays I saw some mixed opinions about the AEM v2, so what do people think is better 'value' CAI?

*more info to come later

thanks guys!~

Welcome!
Post up some pics of your new-to-you ride!
As far as intakes go, V2 isn't bad. Haven't heard much bad about it.
However, I just did the k&n drop in filter and resonator delete. It's similar to having a short ram, for about 40$ and it sounds nice IMO.

LOL don't worry about it. If they're that bad, we could all use a good laugh. Haha I hated my previous rims too, but it didn't keep me from posting pics.

Well cool then, just didn't want to see another "what's our cars bolt pattern?" or "what's the best headers?" thread :P

welcome, glad to see another member. Im also a college student with the same color combo as you in a 01 CL-S. Headers are awesome (i have those too) and the exhaust sounds perfect.
A intake resonator delete and K&N drop-in filter is a cheap intake mod. I think its better then a short ram but slightly not as good as a CAI. OP should look into this mod. is the car lowered or will you be lowering it? also i would save up 3-4k for the tranny if it decides to go and acura doesnt cover it.

Welcome.

I would suggest Going with the CT Icebox, 1) you don't have to take off the bumper to wash filter element and 2) you don't have to buy a bypass valve to give you piece of mind in rainy areas. But that just IMO i have the regular AEM CAI w/ bypass valve and i am relatively pleased with it.

That was a pretty good price for 120k miles w/headers (expecially comptech ) and exhoust.. Do u know what tranny that car is on? I'm 100% sure its not the originall tranny (but that is a good thing) You got a great deal as long as the tranny has no underlieing problems.. Good luck and Welcome!

welcome! as for the AEM V2, thats only available for the premium model so you wouldnt be able to get that anyways since you have the type-s. You can probably find a used AEM CAI in the blackmarket section or an injen or maybe even the comptech icebox.

thanks for all the advice
I'll look to see if they are stock or the icebox. I only had a quick look around the car for aftermarket parts ^^

Just wondering since there's one for sale in the forum...

are the TL CAI's compatible with the CL's?

OO and....I ordered the D2R HID kit...as that was what the chart said for the 01 CL-S road light...is that the right one? :p

I wasn't sure of what exactly to change...left side of the light was significantly dimmer than the right, so I just wanted to change out the lights. Aren't those the "road" lights? :p

To HappyVirus

Welcome to Acurazine!

Nice pickup on the CL and you are already ahead of the game with the mods you have.

Forget the V2...

Keep it in the family and get the CT Icebox aka Comptech Icebox.

yea I know that they come with the stock HID, but then one of the light seems a lot dimmer than the other...so I was hoping to change them both...
