The New Infiniti I35
The New Infiniti I35
Today I was reading the November 2001 issue of Golf Digest and there was a 4-page add in there for the new I35. The first first thing it referred to was its 255 hp V6, "the most powerful in its class." Hum.... How can they make such a claim? The TL Type-S is basically in the same class and it's got five more horses under the hood. Do the auto manufacturers just come up with their own classes? Why don't they tell you what their class is?
Side Note: In this same issue, I saw a 2-page add for the 2002 CL Type-S. The satin silver beauty in the add didn't have a spoiler or any other effects on it, however, I swear to God, it had to have had springs!!! WTF is up with that?

A few weeks ago, I saw an Infiniti commercial that said the same thing. So, I read the fine print and it said "*according to Ward's Automotive." With this I went on to their website, and from what I read, the torque difference makes it the "most powerful."

i work at infiniti as a lot porter. so i get to drive the I35 everyday. guys trust me it's really fuckin fast it might beat the CL-S or TL-S. i have a CL and my dad has a TL-S and i do like them alot better but all i'm saying is the infiniti does have some balls.

ya its a quick car.. i think it ran a 15.2 and a 6.9 0-60 in the newest car and driver. this is with a 4 speed auto so the 6sp max sounds promising!! i thought they could call it most powerfull because its not a special edition like a type s is.. maybe it is because of torque... i dunno....

It's sneaky and pathetic, but it's true.

isn't the IS300 slow?? i was reading sports compact car magazine, they just tested a manual IS300 and said the 0-60 is still 7.3 or .4, it was only about .2 faster than the auto, they said they were very disappointed at the difference from stick to auto. with 7.3 or .4, its even slower than a CL-P/TL-P. And its $6k more but with half the size. I know that the IS300's handleing is great cause my firend fromwork has one, but the acceleration sucks.

3500-4500 rpms = 232 lbs....the VQ motor makes it at like 4000+ and then peaks...and drops.
Although the VQ in the 350Z is going to be a monster.....I wonder if the Max will survive...every concievable angle for the car is being cut off by Nissan....very stupid marketing IMO.

I've heard that 6th gen Maxima will become a full size sedan. I guess Nissan wants Maxima to be more luxurious and bigger while making Altima a 4-door sports car. That's why I decided to go with CL-S. Altima just doesn't appeal to me. Sure G35 looks sweet, plus RWD is making it a very attractive vehicle but it's going to compete with 3-series BMW which is way too small for me.

As for the comments about the 0-60 and 1/4-mile times for the manual IS300, I think they're hilarious! I'm a big-time Lexus hater.... can you tell?

By putting a powerful V6 in the Altima, Nissan certainly put it in a different class. How much did the price of the car increase with this new design? What will they do next, put a high-performance engine in the Sentra?

By the way, a high performance Sentra is called SE-R

Whoever invented fine print should be harshly reprimanded.
