New Grand Prix GTP info from motor trend
"GM's first non cadillac peformance division car will be a hot v-8 version of the '04 Pontiac GP. The car will be powered by an all-new multivalve v-8, said to be a 4.0L, yet making 300+ HP, with variable valve timing. The performance division Grand Prix will be front(not all-wheel) drive to control cost and will debut within a year of the quotidian Grand Prix. That next generation of the midsize Pontiac, which carries over many components from the current car, debuts next fall as a four-door sedan only. The coupe is being retired."

That is the craziest shit i will see on the road.
Cost over Peoples lives? I think anything over 300 hp or a v8 should be a rear or all wheel drive.
and i thought our cars had too much power for a FWD car...

This must be a joke. Where is the link for this info?
Here is what motortrend says about the new Grand Prix.

i got the info straight from ClubGP.com and a few people called BS on it but the original poster came up with proof, i guess it is a little blurb that was written in the actual magazine, not on the internet. that and the fact that the information is not "official" yet but it has been "secretly confirmed by sources high in the ranks of GM/Pontiac"

why is a lot of power to the front wheels bad? i thought the main reason you wanted RWD had to do with the fact you could get more power from the crank to the wheels that way...

Guys keep in mind a 4L V8 won't be a torque monster like the current 5.7L is. Torquesteer on that 4L shouldn't be any worse than on our car with all the bolt-ons or a recent Maxima with I/H/E.
The 2door GrandPrix is gone because the GTO is the new GrandPrix 2door. That will have your 5.7L V8 with rear-wheel drive.

i didnt know that
well i still think its crazy. I just looked up the specs for a 98 caddy sts and the weight distribution is 62/38. THAT IS TERRIBLE. but they do have that Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (CVRSS) and Integrated Chassis Control System (ICCS). At least cadillac put in the R&D to counter the problems with a weight distribution like that.
I wonder how well they handle, do you know scalbert??

BTW, my mother does drive one so I have experienced driving it. It moves pretty well too and if not prepared would give an auto CL-S a good run.

sounds lik bs, if they posted proof lets see it. gm already chickened out on the 280hp g-force concept so i doubt they would go forward with something even more expensive like a 300+hp version. also why wouldn't it use the engine from the holden monaro-5.7liter, since they're both going to be pontiacs.

Oh my gosh that car will be WILD:P . I'm SOOOOO glad I convienced my my g/f to wait till next fall to get a new Grand Prix. I think that will be the next car in the Racing Stories board you'll see "go beat by a new GTP
" but unless you guys get a S/C,Header and exhast I think it will walk away. ) no offence guys but it sounds like this car is going to be HOOKED UP.

if you look at the pictures of the 2004, the front end, and profile fo the car look much nicer than the current gen GTP....and my favorite thing is NO MORE BODY CLADDING!!! but the rear of the car is a bit off..it could use some work, and the spoiler is just pathetic...the interior on the 280 X 2 G-Force was INCREDIBLE, but the production interior is an improvement over the current gen GTP, it is still very much in the typical Pontiac plastic interior category. Ill definately be test driving one for the hell of it, i wanna see how that paddle shift on the steering wheel is. and from what i understand, starting in 2005 there will be a navigation system available as well, and that is when this 4.0 V8 is supposed to debut as well, so for the first year, it is what it is, but after the first year, it should be a more refined package

300hp in FWD car =
:ghey: :thumbsdn:
Everyone is moving to RWD platforms for obvious reasons, this is crazy. I guess to differenciate the new RWD Caddy's from the other product lines?
