new and full of questions

i've got a 2001 cl type s. I'm new to the whole modification world...so i need some help. what should i do performance wise first to the car? intake...exhaust? with a car like this do intake and exhaust make a huge difference? what brands should i go for? (exhaust i would probably get GReddy) how hard are they to install? (should i even try to do it myself?) second...what other modifications are good to make? strut bar? nothing too expensive tho (2000 + isn't in my budget right now)

also..i've got a slight prob with my cl. i was poking around the engine one day to see how hard it would be to clear out my headlights. i unplugged one of the headlights (low beam xenon ones). i plugged it back in..worked fine. HOWEVER...it is now much brighter than the other for some reason. any idea on how to fix this?

thanks..sorrie if its kinda confusing..

AEM-CAI adds up to 10hp and 6lbs more torque for 225. Best bang for your buck and the sound it makes when hitting Vtech is intoxicating! Neuspeed upper strut bar really helped polish off my suspension mods. Next for me is to replace my tires. Got a few quotes today on Potenza 730's! Start saving to get springs and sways though while changing springs I changed out for Koni Yellows and just love the handling improvements this whole system provided. Can hardly wait to replace the tires!!! Good luck and welcome to the board. How do you like your CL-S so far?

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your CLS. I went with the AEM cai first. I am currently looking into suspension mods like springs (Comptech, Eibach, H&R, Neuspeed), sway bars (Comptech, Eibach, Neuspeed), shocks (Konis), and tires (Kumho or Toyo). The exhaust (Comptech, Greddy, HKS)will give minimal performance gains. It is more for cosmetics and sound.
As for the AEM cai, ask Amir he will give you the quickest instructions. j/k (j/k Amir ) Try this link instead Chod's FAQ Its really helpful for newbies and veterans. Well, enjoy your car.

Some people are putting 19's on for looks. I however considering rotational inertia, unsprung weight and all that will be staying with 17's to keep gear ratios low for better offline accel that our car need. We are plenty strong top end. I'd like to disengage rev limiter or move it up to 7400-7500 as I think our engines can easily take it! Will be drag racing this Sunday!

thanks for all the help guys i can tell this is a great board already. i love my cl-s...what an amazing car. and now..a few questions about tinting.
where do you get it done? i have a few import shops around me (car boutique and drivers image) but i don't know if they do that kind of thing.
is mirror tinting more expensive than 'limo' tinting? do you think a mirror tint would look good on a black cl-s?

thanks again

also has anyone encountered or know a solution to my problem with the headlights?

The Polarg M-6 is a bulb that will replace the fake foglight bulb. Its supposed to be brighter. As for the tint, prices should be around $150-200 depending on the type and quality of the tint.

It's only the bulb. Lot of people on this board have installed them.
