New Exhaust!

Hey everyone i just ordered two Magnaflow 14832 mufflers online because i know that many of you have the same setup and love it. I wanted to take them to an exhaust shop and get a whole custom catback system. Would that be all i need to ask for? And if so about how much would that cost? Anyone know any good shops in NJ? thanks alot

For a complete custom cat back system, piping and install are going to be a lot more than $90. Figure about 4-5 hrs labor + materials ($100+ for stainless tubing/hangers). You can opt for aluminized steel tubing to save some $$, but I wouldn't recommend it since it's prone to corrosion/rust.

I'd recommend a MagnaFlow Magnapack resonator, depending on how loud you want it will determine what size you get (14"- 22", the smaller the resonator the louder it will be).

I personally have a bolt on Car Sound/MagnaFlow high flow cat and mos def felt gains, plus it was direct bolt on. No codes as of yet. Others will recommend the Random Tech cat...both are about $200.

I spent a good coin on my exhaust...but I wasn't satisfied till I got the complete set up done. I did change the axle back 3 times and was finally satisfied with the Mags.

Megan headers...$100
RT cat...$250
Twister Resonator...$100
(2) Magnaflow mufflers...$250
2.5" and 2.25" custom piping...$100

For a really good exhaust system you're looking to spend at least $800 or more.

EDIT: CleanCL spent a pretty penny too.

lol i love how everyone says piping+install $100, if you can get stainless steel mandrel bent exhaust w/ flanges made for $100 i'll go to that shop and mass produce exhaust systems.

i duno, did you pay $100 for a full stainless steel catback mandrel bent with flanges?

what i mean by that is: here are 2 mufflers and a resonator, make me a catback. not, use my pre-existing piping and just cut out and weld in these mufflers and resonator.

The piping and flanges alone are gonna be roughly $100, and that doesn't include the cost of labor.

I paid $330 for two MagnaFlow 18414 mufflers plus the Car Sound 27403 high flow cat + $225 for parts/labor/install and that was cheap since he was a friend of a friend. It was a custom exhaust shop that does nothing but custom exhausts. All these so-called $100 jobs must be using mild steel for the piping and that's still way cheap.

You're right, it's pretty foolish to say that $100 of stainless steel will get you a full custom catback.

EDIT: A set of stainless steel mufflers are expensive (I felt the hurt on that).

I'll tell you why...I didn't have rear mufflers at one point when I had my exhaust all together; and even with the high flow resonator my exhaust was super loud! Trust me, keep it on or get a high flow res.

Why don't you get the RT cat that fits instead of getting a universal one?
