New Cl type S owner

Well over the weekend I retired my 1998 accord LX-V6 since I could not get Kennedy Transmission to properly repair the transmission that they installed back in January of this year. Then I find out that I need

to replace a lot of broken clips in the dash, a lot of rubber suspension parts, a CV boot, front brakes, the exhaust, etc

I bought the accord in Jan with a busted trans and I had the car inspected and knew about the previous accident but dang it this was rough.

I had a choice of 2 cars for the same price one was a 2002 white CL type S with 40K and the other was a 2003 san marino red CL type S with 50K in the end I got the white car for $15K. Only thing missing is Navigation but thankfully I am smart enough not to require it........hahaha

In my area these cars list for close to $21K with similar milage and I think I got a great deal over all.

Nice car buddy. I don't think you got a GREAT deal per say but it's not too bad. Milage on a CL in my area is what kills the value on them. I just sold my '01 w/68k for $13,5.

Good luck with it! There's tons of great info here.

Those are the pictures of the car I bought. It is spotless on the inside and drives really sweet.

ALL the other places that I went to look at the CL type S with similar milage wanted anywhere from 18-20K and the lower milage ones were approaching $22K...

Sweet. Love the Taffeta White.

Anyone taking bets on what his first mod will be? My vote is for intake.

No but I can buy the extended warranty if I wanted to. I actually got the car from a VW dealer and the Acura certified cars were almost $5K more.........not worth it IMHO since the major problems with the car are covered under extended warranty (trans and SRS)

I am leaving the car stock as K&N allows more crap into engine and I want this to be reliable DD

Im pretty sure K&N will not put more crap into the motor. Unless you consider air as crap... It restricts A LOT less air than a regular filter thus providing more power. I have a CAI on my car and its great. Whats also nice about the K&N filters is that instead of buying a new filter, all you have to do is buy the recharge kit for it which is $10 at any automotive store.

artbran,

It is proven fact that K&N and other so called high flow filters let more dirt into the engine

Here are some links

http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/airfilter/airtest3.htm

http://www.duramax-diesel.com/spicer/index.htm

the second one is just loaded with good information

It's only because you have a 6. If people harass you, you can harass them about their trannies. j/k

Yeah, but since you joined the 6spd club, that won't work on you...

Yeah, I hate white cars... Last car was white, inherited 2 white pontiacs, brother has a white car stored in my garage...

BUT the TW/parchment is a kickass color combo... right up there with SMR/parchment

bummer about the white cars, Most of my cars have been red I had way too much attention from them too.

'87 Subaru GL (shaggin') wagon, '95 heavily modded candy apple red toyota 4x4 truck, and a 2003 kinda modded tomato red Jetta 1.8T GLS (waxed every other 3 days from working at a detail shop)

Sorry, not trying to the thread.

Oh...YeuEmMaiMai, welcome to the CL club. Unfortunately you may not have escaped your tranny problems, merely postponed them.

Welcome newb! Nice CL. Looks Clean.

Slam it!

An intake does give you a good deep sound in VTEC. Good luck....Hopefully you never have to replace the tranny.

White will by my next color but the interior has to be a dark color. No more light color interior for me since it's so easy to stain.
