Few Questions
Did they ever offer the CL in Japan . . . because if not then why would that be a CL and not the new Accord coupe ? It looks like a 2 dr RL and the new RL ( atleast the ass ) favors the current Accord sedan , so I think it is more likely to be an Accord than a CL . My .02

Hold up a second.......
Did nobody else notice it said "I-VTEC"!
That would mean a new DOHC motor.
WTH?
Could this be.........
Holy hell, a 3.5L DOHC I-VTEC would likely be the next generation Acura V6. Could this be introduced with a new coupe?

No need to get excited over rumors, until they are officially confirmed by Honda.
With that said, I don't see Acura forever withdrawn from the sports luxury coupe segment... too much opportunity there, but they need a good product to compete. And that's probably what they're working on, keeping us in the dark and staring at computer generated pictures in foreign magazines.
Presonally, I think the 03 CLS-6 is RWD & Bimmer-like-handling shy of perfection (for its time, and class). Yet those missing caracteristics are sadly the contributors to its discontinuation.
If Acura made a 4.0+ liter V8 CL w/ SH-AWD, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a smartie - until then, my next car is an 02-04 Z06.

This has been discussed before but I will throw my .02 in. There is an acura coupe coming in 07 MY. What it looks like or specs are up in the air.

Oh yea, it says Legend on it too. Seems like Acura doesn't want to build a distinct coupe for us. I don't like the RL body at all and I definitely don't want a 2 door version of it. A coupe off the TL seemed like the logical choice for a mid-priced, sportier coupe, weird.
They can't even sell the projected RLs. At the dealer there were 13 RLs all lined up in a row, with signs trying to lease em for $597. They aren't selling much since the first interest has waned. I swear Honda and Toyota are the new GM as far as body styling, afraid to lose sales by some risk in the design.

if i remember correctly, it's got the same lower grill and wheels used in that concept NSX that was dumped. They really need to go back and redesign that thing.

I DEFINITELY won’t buy a US built TL based couple.
I probably WOULD buy a Japan built RL based Coupe.
But if they keep up with their “head in the sand” market analysis, I won’t be buying ANYTHING from Acura.

driving on the freeway yesterday I see a new RL still w/ dealer tags, as it drives off, from a distance it looked like a crown victoria from the rear. I end up driving next to a TL and that thing looks sweet, they def should have introduced the new TL w/ the SH-AWD, even better if they offered a coupe like that pic ^

I agree! no more cars with the RL look! Yuck.
The TL is the best looking Acura sedan since the Legends IMO.
What is Acura's problem? They build 2 of the best looking Jp coupes ever, the NSX and the Legend coupe, and then we get the lame CL (sorry 1G owners) and then a tame corporate look CLS.
What happened to whoever designed the Legends?
Acura has done so well with their newest sedans (except RL), I hope they can keep it up with a new coupe. Otherwise Lexus (IS), BMW(3), and Infiniti(G) will all have new hopefully exciting coupes to consider in the next 1-2 years.

03 CL TypeS - I was referring to coupes by those other makes.
Both the new Lexus IS and BMW 3 sedans will be followed by new coupe versions. I've already seen spy shots and guesses of both those coupes around. The new 07 G coupe is supposed to be out next year I read. Again all this info on other coupes but nothing at all on an Acura one.
Got to keep it Acura related. the mods closed a thread I had on looking at getting a G35coupe. Hope we don't break the rules.

The CL was the first H/A vehicle to be designed and built in the USA

The CL coupes are the first Acura cars to be designed, engineered, and built in this country. Designed in Torrance, California, and built at East Liberty, Ohio, the CL coupes are American cars for American driving.
