New CL-S 6MT

whats good everyone, just bought my 03 CL-S 6MT for $11k. Minor issues though, very low clicking sound is coming from engine, does anyone else have this problem or know what it is? And im debating between 20% tints or 35% tints. im thinking the 20s will be too dark, but do'able please give me some feed back. thanks everyone

What conditon is it in? How many miles? That clicking is the purge valve. Do a search on it.
And welcome!!!

That's cheaper than an 01 with a bad tranny. Either a great deal or may need some probably pricey repairs. I thought ticking was usually the lifters. Have you checked the oil level? How many miles on this thing?

Tints you might want to consider how your area is in terms of cops and climate. We have no idea where you're from.

We gots no lifters. The clicking could be anything from the purge valve, loose rocker, to even deeper in the motor. Hard to say, but very likely the purge valve if it's not to loud.

Sounds like you got a helluva deal. With that said though, let's see it because or

For the clicking, check the item shown below for clicking. It's a common problem. Purge Valve Solenoid or something. They only run about $40. Start it up and pinpoint where the sound is coming from. My is on the solenoid. Most of them click but some are louder than others. There was a recent thread where guys were talking about it effecting fuel milage as well. Check it out.

Good luck, I hope that helps!

If it's too loud it could be he needs a valve adjustment. Does it only occur at idle or also under acceleration?

That's why he needs to pinpoint where it's coming from first.

This purge valve IS a correctable problem? Damn, all this time I thought it was something we basically had to live with.

That's good news. This place has a great price on it. The cheapest I think... www.oemacuraparts.com.

You mean the ballast or invertor (or whatever it's called)? Look for it on that website too.

Nice deal... It amazes me what a great bang for the buck the CLS still is... For 11K you won't find a nicer car w/ a 6spd (and 260hp, leather, etc, etc)...

You have now officially become the record holder for buying a 6spd for the lowest price here

The prior record holders annoucement thread is here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t=high+mileage

Oh, and welcome to the forum...

search keywords = high mileage 6spd

Prices have been dropping rapidly for the '03's... which is good news for all of us with an '01 looking to trade up!

Here's a few more cheap 6spd's that i've seen... (in case anyone was interested)
Black 6spd
Red 6spd - Looks like a VERY nice deal
Another awesome deal on a black 6spd
Very clean SSM 6spd
My personal fav - SMR 6spd w/ navi

too bad they're all at least 400 miles away from me...

Don't forget to check autotrader.com too... There's a used car lot a mile from my house that has sold 2 6spds in the past 2 months... Both were advertised on autotrader...

Wouldn't yours be considered a worthless post too? Along the same lines as my orig one? And thanks for the concern about being a noob, but I have been around since 2003 when this was ATL and ACL.com.
