New CL?
Vtec says there is a car slotted between the TL and the NSX... I guess a 'new' CL. Would they even call it that?
http://vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=644694
If Acura did come out with a sub-NSX would the CL name be used? Or do you guys think they will put out a new coupe when the TL gets re-designed?

Sounds like the next gen NSX to me...
Discussion is already started about it here...

I've been on this forum so long that I don't even have to type anything anymore, I just have to quote myself :gheylaugh:
Edit: By the time Acura does finally come out with a new coupe they are going to have some harsh competitrion. The Challanger and Camaro are both confirmed to be produced and a Lexus IS350 coupe, Toyota Supra and BMW 1 series coupe are rumored to be coming.

Vtec.net still lists a ~$40-50k pricerange, sub NSX Unnamed (Acura) Sports Car/Coupe...

With even the lowly Altima getting a coupe version ( https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ma#post5124704 ), you would think by now Acura would have a coupe in their lineup... The NSX is still a couple years away, the RSX is gone (not really a coupe, but a hatchback anyways), so only time will tell if Acura wants to be the luxury brand without a coupe...
Maybe once the NSX is done Acura will concentrate on an affordable coupe, but I've already started looking elsewhere for my next car...

That's the NSX. Not sure where you are getting "Vtec says there is a car slotted between the TL and the NSX" It doesn't say that.

Acutally it does:

I've learned long ago, that you can't assume anything a car company might do. Alot of their decisions aren't based on logic
Until Acura OFFICIALLY says they are coming out with a followup to the CLS, I'm gonna assume it ain't gonna happen. It might happen, but with as secretive as Honda/Acura is, I'll believe it when I see it.

Hey, hey! All we're gonna get (under $60k) is a TSX-off coupe.
Could be a real Altima coupe buster! Oh, boy.
since my CLs has been in the shop for almost a week and I'm driving a loaner (TSX) I'm getting new car fever, but all Acura has is seduns and suvs now.
Could I like driving an RL or TL? Not sure.

I like rarer cars, thus the CLS and Legend Coupes I've had were great.
TL's are everywhere and the RL rear looks ugly IMO.
Never drove an RL, everybody says it is slow.
A coupe off the RL with better styling and power would be good.
but I am getting tired of Acura treating coupe buyers as unimportant.
oh, yea, there is the new Accord coupe coming soon??

Well, it's not like the CL name has lots of admirers. It was touted in 96 as being the Legend Coupe replacement, that annoyed a lot of Legend fans.
Now, the Legend name worked, but too well, Acura didn't like Legend being more recognizable than Acura, so goodbye Legend.
so we got SLX, TL, RL, RSX, TSX, CL. ugh. don't forget Vigor.

More than likely it will be a high-performance coupe... I really think the CL name will never be used again. I think it confuses some people already with the 2 or 3 letter naming scheme. Well think about it you have the RSX and the CL gone. They leaves a huge gap in the line up. Integra may come back and be nothing like it was before. maybe something almost like a new lexus SC 400 type styling and performance.

Acura will not make a car that competes directly with a camaro or charger........totally different area.......those are perforamance cars first luxury isn't really a thought other than we needs lots of gagets.
NSX will be a super car type of deal......
it would be nice for Acura to make a FULL SIZED luxury performance coupe with a V8 or a S/C V6 but I doubt it......

To me, the current Honda Accord Coupe is the modern CL. It has all the characteristics of an Acura CL but with better and newer technology. The accord we have in US is only available here which is like a CL. When comparing the CL and the Accord coupe, they have many thing in common, such as the curve trunk, V6, dual exhaust, vtec, etc

Yeah, the accord is the closest thing to the cl, but it's just not the same. The CL was built off the accord platform, buy there were alot of subtle differences between the two. One of the biggest things was exclusivity. While every Tom, Dick, and Harry owns an accord coupe, only a select few of use own a CL
I think that part of the problem with the low sales of the CL (which lead to it's discontinuation) was due to people cross-shopping the CL and the Accord. I test drove a 02 Accord EX V6 coupe, and was thinking about waiting for the 03 AV6 6mt, but decided I wanted the CLS 6spd instead.
Hopefully if Acura comes out with another coupe, they won't repeat their prior mistakes, and make sure that an Acura coupe is slotted above the accord so that people won't be able to cross shop 'em.

Not that it was a coupe to being with, it was a sport hatchback in my opinion.

I've always considered the Integra and RSX "hot hatches" and not coupes, but technically they are coupes:

If you go with that train of thought, then this is the first time since Acura started in 1986 where they don't have a coupe in their lineup
