New Car...Smell brakes all the time..problem?

I have about 630 miles on my car now, and I noticed this only in the past two days. Every time I drive normally through city streets, where I may apply my brakes a lot but not very hard, I smell my brakes at every stop light (wow...that was a long sent).

I typically have all my windows and sunroof closed when I smell this burning rubber smell.

Is this normal?

Sweet-tits...i just turned 23...whooohooo

burning smell might not coming from brakes..the problem might be oil leaking.i know it is new car.but bring it to the dealership to have them to check it out for u..my jeep had the same problem a month ago too..the problem was rear main seal was leaking..i paid about $550 to fix that problem and yours is covered by the warranty..so not to worry..and if that is not the oil leaking problem.please let me know what the problem is..thank u and good luck

hmmm...

seems kinda stupid....but my girlfriends mother complained about the same thing on her corolla last summer.....

it was a plastic grocery bag stuck on her exaust pipe

so before you go the dealer....get your knees a little dirty and check underneath your car

could also be the smell of the catalytic converter.
takes a while to go away.
you should get out of your car and follow your nose to the source.

on all 3 of my acuras the brakes have smelled real bad for at least 2-3 days.

maybe it wasnt the brakes... but something they smelled like burning brakes stunk for first few days.

i also typically put over 1000 miles on in first day or two though.

Thanks Aeon...too bad i'm stuck at work...

I'm pretty sure it's the brakes that is producing the smell. I was just wondering if any body else has experienced this. I've had the car for a week and a half already.

I did make a long ass trip out to Penn State to brake her in last weekend. But of course I didn't use the brakes much cause it was all highway cruising.
