New best with Icebox

Okay folks . . .

No dyno here . . . yet, but here is how my pre-Icebox runs compared to my post.

Still the same tires and wheel, and probably a little bit more gas in the tank with the Icebox.

Without Icebox -- 14.65 @93.95MPH
With the Icebox - 14.58 @ 95.87MPH

I'd post all the details, but I can't find my old slip and it's a bish trying to find the old post. But here are the Icebox details.

60' ----- 2.225
330' --- 6.186
1/8 ---- 9.413
MPH --- 76.27
1000 -- 12.225
1/4 ---- 14.588
MPH --- 95.87

The only thing I recall is that I had a 2.19 or 2.19 60' before, so you can see the Icebox really helped out.

No where can I get some good used headers for cheap? I think 14.3 or 14.2 is in my future.

Nice times! Damn, that just shows that I can do a hell of a lot better! I know you have a lot more practice then I do but man I suck! I've only run at the track 9 times (so 9 slips)

My r/t was a little off as the xmas tree was on instant green, so I was trying out different launches.

So .672, .698 and .708 were them . . . I'm usually low .6nn to high .5s if I'm focused on the light, and of course if the tree is in full mode I'm even better.

My worst run was when I launch at 2500RPM, very little wheel spin as they had lots of VHT on the track. The car actually sort of bogged . . . wasn't real crisp. Best launch was around 1800.

Tire pressure was 28lbs. Again the VHT was a boost for traction

No, other than tires and wheels, that's all I had.

The butt dyno said it was pulling stronger . . . especially on the big end of 3rd where it would flatten out a bit past 90MPH . . . it was still pulling good past 100MPH.

Our engines just want more air.

Thanks guys . . . I was really hoping for 14.5s considering I ran 14.6s 2x without any engine modes.

The temperature was nice . . . for Texas. It was 91 that day so the track surface was still nice and warm. But a cold front was moving closer and the winds were picking up out of the SE so the humidity was climbing.

For my run times (10:19pm 1st run) the temps finally dropped to 78 degrees, but humidity was above 50% . . . it was climbing from 6pm on . .

So over all, it wasn't all that bad for us. I would have liked 60s and 40% humidity or less.

They cleaned and spayed it on a few times during the night.

It was sad because I told the guys to watch out as one of the first several cars up, someone usually busts something. Sure enough a guy in a Mustang GT blew his clutch or tranny.

It also funny watching guys who aren't familar with just how sticky this stuff is. They'll get up there and bog on the launch because the tires don't spin easy or at all. Shoot, I was up 1st after a fresh treatment and I couldn't idle through it. I had to give it some gas. :P

wait a sec, this vht gives that much more traction. would it work if we applied it to our tires directly??
or lets put on a nozzle in front of each wheel and spray before we launch. sure would make my street encounters more enchanting!

Not sure how that would work.

Yep, you would think it would automatically help, but because the traction improvements are changed quite a bit, you have to change you launch technique. And that will vary from car to car depending on their set up. For out autos, I found you are better off power-braking 2000 or less and nailing the trottle. You can also run a little more air which will help with your top end.

So have really have to adjust for every run. That's what makes it a drivers/tuners race. You just can't show up with a faster car and say I'm going to automatically win.

Just ask the guy in the SC G35C how he felt losing to a TLS. :P
