New Battery

My battery crapped out over the weekend so I replaced it today. I noticed that as I was driving to work today that when I stop the car idles lower than usual (around 400 RPM) and shakes a little. The tranny was also shifting harder and more often than usual. Could the new battery be the cause of this?

Do you have any type of a audio system setup ? Did the replacement have the same specs ?

I am pretty sure the battery should have had the same specs but that is definately something I will check tomorrow morning. I have only the factory audio system.

I was thinking maybe it was running that way because it had sat for about 2 days and not been started, but it sits for sometimes 5 days at a time when I drive my other car all week. The weather has also recently gotten colder here which I was also considering as a contributing factor in the death of the battery.

Happens to all Hondas (mileage varies or course). When the battery's disconnected, the ECU resets itself the moment the juice is removed. Once you hookup the new battery, the ECU has to reprogram itself (air/fuel ratio, idle, etc.) Just let the car idle in place till one of the electric fans turns on, then go for a drive around your neighborhood, followed by a brief run on a nearby freeway. The computer has to re-learn all those parameters till you notice the car drive "normal" again.

Honestly I just assumed it was the battery. Sunday it cranked real slow but started at my apartment, cranked even slower at my girlfriend's house, and then had to get jumped off at the movies. Yesterday it just clicked and did not start at all. The new battery seems to have fixed the problem, but if it does not start when I leave work I guess I have a different problem. I hope it is not the alternator.
