Talking Neuspeed Exhaust installed!! PICS & VIDEO (no 56k)

The install was quick. Since Edddie stole/borrowed my jack , I couldn't DIY. So brought it to my custom exhaust shop I'm familiar with. Took only 20-30 minutes with my help to install.

WOW! Sounds awesome. Obviously it needs a few days to be broken in and quiet down (plus the smell is ). I'll post another video then. But so far it sounds very nice, has a deep growl to it. It is definitely a quiet one at 3K. I heard absolutely no droning at 2K on the freeway (I know the TL exhaust had that problem earlier). It was quiet at cruising and cannot be heard over my radio (I keep my volume low btw). I'll post another update and video soon.

I'm officially done with the bolt-on mods.....
Next up...

Directly from Neuspeed: $640 shipped (Shipping is free) I pay CA tax

Excellent price since a month ago it was $900. They lowered it to match the TL exhaust price.

Those in So. Cal, shipping only takes 1 day

They do not have the axle-back

Hell yea

BTW, if you're out of CA, shipping is only $20 or so. So a full, warrantied stainless steel catback that has awesome quality of Neuspeed for $599 is a steal!

Compare to Greddy, CT, etc. Which are much more expensive.

Looks good. I don't mind the low end grunt, but it sounds a little buzzy in the higher revs on my computer. Do you hear that too or is it an artifact of the media/speakers/etc?

Are those CARB approved?

It's my crappy digi-cam's video mode. No buzz at higher revs, actually had a friend rev it up for me a few moments ago... Keep in mind, the video was shot with the car starting up for the FIRST time.

Installed at Awesome Performance of Santa Margarita. They are well known for their Hot-Rod custom exhaust work. Had a nice 69-67? (I forgot which year they didn't make it) Mustang Fastback with a custom exhaust setup... DAMN, it sounded MEAN

Anything cat-back does not need to be CARB approved, since they do nothing to decrease emissions

Looks great, haven't listened to it yet because I'm at work. That price is insane though. That's about the same I paid for a USED Greddy Evo II.

p.s. Love the Jet Hot headers.

Thanks for the comments guys! Unfortunately, I can't drive and hear my exhaust because I'm holed up in the library studying.

notcreative: I hosted the video on my website. I can host any fellow A'Zine member's video if asked. email any videos to: niteqwill@gmail.com

I'll try to get a better quality video and sound on Thursday and post it up asap.

Then why are intakes CARB approved? I thought CARB approval applied to anything connected to the air-exhaust path.

I just looked up the online CA Air Resouce Board site. The list of aftermarket items that should be CARB EO approved is exhaustive (pun intended). They include things like rocker arms and pulleys on the list.:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermk...es/amquery.php
look at the pull down list on the site.
Cleaner Modification - modifications to the air cleaner and/or its housing.
Air Filter/Intake Modification - open element air filters, modifications to the air flow intake tract, heat risers/preheat ducts.
Engine Modification/Engine Change - kits that include multiple engine modifications such as new cylinder heads and camshafts, or boring and stroking; engine changes using an engine certified for another late model vehicle application, with additional engine modifications .
Exhaust System/Exhaust Modification - exhaust manifold, exhaust headers, exhaust pipes, crossover pipes, etc.
Fuel Line Modification - devices designed to attach to or be inserted in the fuel line.
Fuel System Modification - fuel filters, gas caps, pressure regulators.
Intake/Exhaust System - a kit that includes both intake and exhaust components.

All of those can, in some way or another, affect how the combustion cycle operates.....from the cat back, however, there is no "modification" to the gases The only reason for mufflers is sound deadening....

Also, the guy I just spoke to at Neuspeed said he did not think that they needed to be CARB approved (and they are not)

CARB approval is only needed when their is a possibility of change in the combustion and exit of gases... Air intake + Headers (generally), but not limited to fuel systems, pistons, heads, IM, etc. etc.

The CARB only carries its weight until it reaches the Catalytic converter. Technically, any modifications BEFORE the cat is illegal unless CARB exempt.

Mufflers deaden sound, in California, there are strict laws on noise pollution. BUT, as many know, you can run a "straight pipe" from the cat without any problems ('cept noise) and be perfectly legal (muscle cars, hot-rods, etc.).

yeah i figured it was just an fault in the vid/aud capturing device. looks awesome tho. wish i had a 2nd gen. and i know what you mean about that new exhaust smell. it smells like some kind of cleaning chemical being burned. my g/f has an exhaust similar to that one you have. but her car is some wierd orange/gold color.

I received the headers from Steve so the cutout was already on there. The unit is from QTEC, although, the best units are from DMH Performance. The QTEC unit already broke once, I replaced it... if it breaks again, I'm going with the latter cutout.

yes, you can order the cutout online.

Thanks for the comments!

The exhaust is quieting down a bit and the smell is slowly going away. I'll be taking more pics and videos tomorrow.
