I ran 89 in Idaho once (only station around). Didn't notice any difference, but I was running on the interstate and not driving hard.

Ditto. I use Sunocco Ultra 94 here. I ran 89 once, didn't feel a difference, but I didn't floor it.... I used 94 in my old 87 legend for five years... So nothing less than 92 for the CL...

Man you guys should never move to Iowa, the highest octane most places have is 91, if you are lucky 92.

Stay the hell out of Ohio!!! We've got plenty of Sunoco 94, and Shell 93.

J/K. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

probably nothing.

the higher the octane, the less likely the gas will auto-ignite (knock/ping/whatever you want to call it).

if it doesn't ping with 91 or whatever premium is, it won't ping with 97 or whatever either.

performance wouldn't be effected. some mag did a comparison with cars that required premium using regular and cars that are sufficient with regular using premium. one of the regular cars even lost power using premium.

nothing, its a waste of money, in my race bike i have to run vp racing fuel, or it would detonate terribly, that is due to the high cylinder temperatures caused by the mods to my engine, (cut head and base of cylinder), higher compressions need higher octane becuase higher octane fuel burns at a cooler more constant temp, so unless you have higher compression its a waste, the reccomended octane is just fine

I agree with fbazakos. If I can afford a 30k dollar car i can afford the gas for it. But I'm from GA and premium gas here right now is $1.19!!!!! I think it so low here b/c GA has the lowest tax on gas in the country.
