need to vent (reading thread on new 2003 cl)

i for one would be extremely pissed off if the new cl took on drastic body changes the manual transmission would not bother me but i just got the fuckin car a week ago and one of my reasons for choosing it amongst a list of many features was the fact that its body style is sooo fuckin new that there is no way that i would be in an "old car " while i owned it i already had the old cl and it sucked to watch the new cl whizz past me but i bought a 97 in 00 and didnt expect for the car to remain the same but this time around it was different.

If acura changes bodystyle on me they can keep it ill trade it in next year in january get the freekin bmw 330 and fuck the navi ill buy it aftermarket now that i have it im not so damn impressed i lived in the same city 26 years i know my way around without it .all i wanted was a factory looking dvd player anyhow...

acura for all in all is a great company my last cl never ever ever ever gave me a problem i bought it used from acura and the service was wonderful but this is ooutrageous if in fact it is true .

I love my new car i am babying it to death this is my first new car so you can see my disgust and anger or maybe you cant in any case it pisses me off ...

No I can definitely understand your frustration. Just think of all the other car models that go thru the same thing. Every year dozens of car model change and their owners get screwed on a major body change/improvement.

After buying cars for over 15 years, all I can say that might help you feel better is probably "you learn to get over it real soon." It ain't so bad, what if you couldn't even afford a new car and you have to buy used 2-3 years back every time?

I totally agree. THats why i said before, if acura changes the body of CL, i would never buy an acura again. I got mine a month ago. I didnt expect it to change for at least 2 more years. which by then i plan to get a new car anyways.

Why should it bother you? If you like your car as it is, what is the problem if the face lift it? You must need to have the freshest car around. That is not a way to be happy. Good luck with the 330 if you get it, the car is very nice and you will have fun with it. Just don't freak out if BMW decides that they now want to offer SMG on the US model 330 (already sold in europe)

I'm certainly not enraged...

But I will be pissed about MAJOR changes to the body style so soon.

It just isn't good for anyone.

No other luxury marque does this... the CL shouldnt be up for a change until at least '04.

Oh well... it wouldn't hurt as bad if the resale value didn't suck enough as it is! Last thing anyone needs is to be soo far upside down on a loan that it will take all 5 years to get ANY equity in this car.

Anyway. My rant is over... I've tried to stay out of this till now. Ya caught me at a weak moment

thats not my problem i like no i love my cl it just sucks that you expect a car to have the same bodystyle for a couple of years and then you buy a car you know is very new on the market and you get screwed bringing your resale value down .

Infiniti is giving away the qx4 at ridiculous prices i couldve ridden off with one for like 28-30 believe it or not with navi and a dvd/tv system for like an extra grand but i know you know everyone knows the qx4 is getting a facelift so i didnt take it im not an suv guy anyway but the price was almost too good to pass up but i said fuck it stayed with ac and well the problems have started...

My guess is everyone is about to have a body kit avail for the CLS ... so it will be all good.

Those that don't dive in for the 6MT can probably hope that Acura is about to give the rest a shot at a nice face-lift.

Jeesh, If I had to do it all over again I know I would have gotten the Infiniti QX4 with navi over my current CLS!! I went into my local Infiniti dealership just for the hell of it and they also practically tried to give me one for nothing!!! I sat excited to hear all of the incentives and discounts they were willing to give me and that's when my excitement turned sour. I wish I could have waited because I love the QX4 and I wanted an SUV but I wasn't patient and just went ahead and bought a second CL.. I owned a 97 CL 3.0 before and a BMW 328ci as well. I guess I'm just getting tired of the coupe thing in general..

anyway... back to the subject

BMW makes A LOT of changes every year to standard features, appearance, available options. In 2 years a BMW is dated compared to the current model.

Think of all the happy people who bought a 328Ci, only to have the 330Ci come out the following year. Or the 'angel eyes' on the current 5-series.

Sounds like you would not be happy with any car.

2 year lease plan my friend.
$500 buck a month for the rest of your life and you'll
never ever have to worry about having an old car.

So does it work the other way around, too?

If they did decide to radically change the body style and it was butt-ugly, would you be happy? Would you rejoice and feel that you got something good just in time when you did?

You can't have it both ways....
