Need some tender Acura advice

Rewind to 3 weeks ago.

My GF and her sister arrive home in our 97 CL 3.0. Parkes it safely in our driveway as usual, 2-3 minutes later, WHAM! This damn 17 year old comes screeching around a corner racing going around 70mph. He loses control of his parents camry, (don't ask why he was even trying to race with a camry) skids through our neighbors driveway then slides through his yard and into our driveway and BOOM! Smahes right into the backside of our clean CL and spins it 180 degrees. Car is totalled. Days go by driving a POS Cavalier rental, (tears begin to shed) we are beyond heartbroken.

Fastforward to 2 days ago.

After searching like crazy for a 01 CLS, we come up empty except one in our town w/58000mi. But not at an Acura Dealer. It was through a Suburu/Isuzu Dealer. Now after several days finally got them down to a price we liked and went in to write up the contract. They offer us a warranty that basically covers everything except normal wear and tear. But it is through this company called Universal Underwriters Group.

Does anyone know of them? The Used dealer lot says it is the next best option to CNA. I am not sure how strong their word is but being it is Used Car Dealer Language, we are a bit worried to trust them. Quote was 3yr/36,0000 $1,485.

FFwd to Today.

We know we can bring the car in to Acura dealer and have them inspect it and get their warranty from them. But is this a normal process with cars purchased outside of Acura dealers? And should we feel alright with doing this? They quoted us $2000 for 3yr I beleive.

Please I know this was a looong post but had to vent a bit about our loss. I have been skipping here and there over the years at this site and just decided recently to participate. This is a great site with an honest community. But if anyone here can give us some advice on which warranty is alright to go with or if we should even bother Acura, let us know. We don't mind paying a little extra if it means better care and peace of mind.

Thanx in advance.
