Need some opinions on possibly trading in non-navi for navi.
So ive been pissed at my self for not waiting and getting a cl-s with navi and i have been looking around latley to see if i can find a local cl-s 6 speed with navi and low miles and i finally found one.
My question is, right now i have a certified 2003 6-speed, non-navi and it is in perfect condition with 30,000 miles, no accidents, clean car fax, etc. Now the cl-s i found is also 6 speed, but it has navi and it is not certified and has 20,000 miles. I called and talked to them and we are in the process of maybe working out a trade + cash, but what do you guys think would be a fair trade for me and a trade they should accept. I was thinking my car + $1,500.00 what do you guys think would be reasonable?

that sounds about fair to me, what's their asking price for it? Either way, they'll pretty much get the money they pay you back out of your car when they sell it. They'll probably give you right around $18-19k for it. I thought about trading my SSM 6-speed non-navi for and ABP 6-speed w/ navi, but the blue one had about 30k less miles than mine and they wanted like $23k for it, when I only paid $18,700 for mine a few months ago. I didn't think it was really worth it at that price.

Well the selling price on the one they have is $21,988, only problem is, its not an acura dealership, so he didnt look much into it when i told him mine was certified. He didnt seem to be too keen on trading, even though they would make an extra $1500 out of the deal, on top of what ever they sell mine for. I figure the value of my certification would be equivalent to extra option of navi on their cl-s.

CLS 6MT Navi
I did the same thing about a year and a half ago, but mainly for a better color choice. I sold my white/parchment No-Nav 6 speed and got an anthracite 6 speed with Navi.
Most of it seems to be personal choice and what you can live with. I didn't like the parchment interior or white but it was certified and only 3000 miles and I got it for a good price from the dealer and they gave me a lot for my Legend coupe trade-in.
But, I realized within a month what a great car the CLS 6MT was and that I got the wrong color! After a year I put it in the paper a few times, no luck selling. Then suddenly a local female professor at UT bought it for my asking price. It had 15k miles by then. I was considering trading it back to the dealer for $19k! but luckily my buyer appeared with $24k cash.
I flew to Oklahoma and picked up the anthracite 6MT with Navi and only7500 miles for about $750 more than the one I sold. It was a no brainer but I got lucky with my sale. The anthracite had been on autotrader for months and the seller and I talked for 2 months while I tried to sell my white one.
I decided if I was gonna get another 6MT CLS might as well get it loaded and I have no regrets. Both were trouble free great cars, good luck.

CLS 6MT Navi
What color interior is your red? If it's black I'd definitely keep it and do aftermarket Navi too.
I mostly switched for color (inside and out) but decided I should go for the Navi version since it is rarer and will be more in demand at resale. THe stock Navi is nice but will be very outdated in 3-4 years... if not already.
What color is the new car??

My car is red with parchment
The car the dealer has is black on black.
Of course i would rather have anthracite but chances of finding one of those is slim to none. Black on black is pretty common color and I do like the red so color isnt that big of a deal to me.
The reason i dont want to get an aftermarket one is because i dont like my car to look non-stock on the inside, so if i can have stock navi that would be sweet. I like to keep the interior as clean as possible.

Then you'd come out of pocket $1,500 for a navigation system but you'd loose the extended warranty from being certified. Seems like a wash to me. I wouldn't do it. You can always add navigation to your current CL for around $800 in parts.

CLS 6MT Navi
What about that 2 year OLD post?
As I said the CL Navi is not that current but depends on what you want, for my first Navi car I think it is great.
I love the black CLS, and I like the red CLS, and I prefer the ebony interior.
I'd keep your red, it is a 6 Speed! If you found a red with black interior, that's pretty rare.
I switched also because the anthracite CLS was an 2003 only color.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I would either put in an after market one or see if I could get a factory one put it. You know the history of car you have, and you trust it. I wouldn't trade it in for an Uncertified one just for the navi. If it was an issue of paint and navi, then I may do it.

If you are trading cars with an individual, the warranty is transferable. If you are trading cars with a dealer it is not. (Per Acura) You will have to shell out $1,500 for the same car with stock navi. Why not save yourself some "in the long run" $ in repair costs and keep your car with the warranty, install the after market navi and be happy? Use your $1500 for the new navi system! As far as I see it, that Certification/extended warranty is priceless.

Waste of your $$. You can get a hooked up nav installed for under $2K. If it was an auto for 6 speed that's different. Your talking about an option that how many times will you really use? Everyone I know that has a factory nav thought it was cool at first & then they never use it.
Your car plus $1500 for a car with 10K less miles & a more expensive option don't sound right. I doubt the dealer will do that.. It's worth alot more then $1500.

I have the Navi, I would never have paid extra for it, but the car I found at the price I could afford happened to have it. At first I used it a lot, that was 3 years ago. Now I use it occasionally. It is most useful when going someplace new or congested, it allows you to concentrate on traffic more than where you are going. I have used it in Tampa many times and it has everything in there that I needed. There are roads in Orlando that don't show up, but thats ok b/c I live in Orlando and rarely use it there. It is also nice to turn on to figure out how far you are from your destination or if you are really bored and want to watch the miles fly by on the screen.
Bottom line... the stock unit does not totally suck. I would never have paid extra for it but I have found it quite useful, I like the fact that it is integrated (I like the clean stock look). It may not be the most up to date or the most advanced but it does a very good job for what I need it for.
