Need to remove rear deck

I need to remove my rear deck so that the window tinting place can tint the entire window and not cut around the brake light because frankly I don't like how that looks, does anyone have some advice on how top take the rear deck out? I figure its just take out the rear seat and undo a few bolts but Im just trying to male sure there isn't an easier way. Thanks in advance.

you'll need to remove the the rear seat. once that is out, it pretty much much just pops off then you can unbolt the brake light.

Unless you have a brake light in the spoiler, tinting over the brake light in the window is not a real smart idea...and may be illegal depending on where you are.

i have my whole window tinted on my tl. 5% and i can see the brake light like if it was not tinted. have no problem

dont forget that the c pillars are held on top of the deck. so u need to take out the rear seats, then the c pillars are just popped it. so u pull them out. u need to take out the speaker covers, two bolts from the bottom (take them out from inside the trunk). take out the brake light.

Its 11pm and Im about to take this project and get it done....after im done grilling haha.

I absolutely hate it when you can see through to the brake light and like rajca said you can see the light through the tint still so I dont see why its illegal but the tint guy said it is, w.e

A good tint shop has the correct tools to do it without removing the rear deck. They didnt remove my rear deck and its flawless. Also have black vinyl put over the dot matrix or it will look like crap

There really is not enough clearance to fit any kind of tool in between the glass and the light

It took me a couple hours last night but it wasn't all to bad aside from having to wrestle the ENTIRE rear seat out, I thought it camo out in 3 pieces

Good info. I have to do this too or the tint shop "wont" be able to tint over the brake light.

Don't forget that the rear shelf brake light is held in place by four small bolts accessed from the trunk. After sliding out the rear shelf, the brake light effectively lifts out after removing these four bolts.

There are only 2 8mm bolts located in between the navigation mounts closest to the trunk lid.

Basically to get the rear deck out you just need to follow the seat removal pdf for install found here

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168436

After that its pretty straight forward, take out the two clips right in the middle of it, youll see them just looking at the shelf.

Take off the 2 plastic pillars, I reccomend pulling on em gently but not too gently from the side closest to the roof.

Undo the 4 cover screws, I did this by laying in the middle in between the gap with a flashlight.

Then take off the 2 8mm bolts I mentioned earlier.

Once this is all said and done you're ready to take it off, just start from one end an work your way to the other popping off all the plastic clips along the way, then just maneuver it out.

Hope that helps someone in the future, its completely worth it, the car looks amazing Ill post pics when I get a camera

The tint shop did mine without removing the deck and did a perfect job, but i guess if they wont do it without removing the deck, go for it.
