Need lots & lots of info

I'm assuming this is the right place to put this, seeing as how there is no 2nd gen technical forum.

I am looking into buying either a Black or Aegan Blue CL-S. It will be a 6 speed without navigation. Other than spoiler and foglights are there any other significant options I should look for when looking to locate a car?

Ok, here's the long list of stuff I'd like to know.

1. Stock dyno #'s with the 6 speed of course.

2. Any specific problems to look out for, or anything that plagues the CL's in general.

3. How is the paint quality in general? Any specific colors known to wear prematurely?

4. How is the general reliability of the CL's been so far? Any common problems?

5. What is the general average for stock 1/4 mile times for a well driven CL-S at a decent track in decent weather.

I know these are newb questions, but I am considering making a purchase soon, and never even had an inkling that I would be considering an Acura.

Please barrge me with all the info and opinions you can. I am doing the whole search thing, but it gets tedious after awhile.

3. paint close to perfect, but not perfect
4. Much more reliable then ur other 2 cars
5. in the 14's

BTW My Mustang has been absolutely flawless over the 2 years I've owned it. If the Acura is 1/2 as solid as it is I will be happy.

the weakest link in the stock car you're buying is the tires...would be my first upgrade if i had it to do over...stock car should dyno about 220 on a good day 14.5 in the 1/4 and other than that with the manny just know after the tires you're intake and headers away from being as fast as that mustang of yours and maybe even faster

these guys pretty much covered it for ya. But if you're worried about paint chips, I wouldn't go with black. I've seen a couple black CLs with numerous chips in the hood, and they're much more noticable on black as well.

Well I have some 235/45/17 Kuhmo Surpa 712's that I had planned on putting on the stock 17's as soon as I get the car. Should they fit ok (i dont know how wide the wheel is) and what is everyone pulling at the 60' on the stock tires?

235/45/17 is the best plus size fit for the CL
they have the same rolling height as the stock 215/50/17
they also have the closest RPM compared to stock

Whoa, you're in Howell? Cool, i'm in Pinckney! My mom teaches at Howell Highschool.

You'll have to give me a ride in the 6-speed when you get it, i'd like to compare to my slushbox.

No problem. Is there any local Acura clubs or no? They should really have some dedicated forums to local chapters or regions.

Not that i know of, it's a very rare car around here. I see a couple in Ann Arbor every so often, but the TLs far outnumber the CLs. There are also a few closer to Detroit. I've yet to meet another Acura enthusiast in our area.

Better hurry, supplies are limited as they say. My local dealer has been moving the 6 speeds a lot faster this last month. Many dealers are saying they are not getting any more, which may be true, rather have space for the new TSX, the new TL in Sept and cars that sell and are not discontinued.
ps- I have a mint white 6 speed 6k miles I'll sell ya if you come to TX. I want Navi and a dif color.

Hmm, was up in Howell today (turning off of latson onto Grand River) and i saw a black CL-S. I'm inclined to think it was an 01 because it had the road lamps. There might be a few more CL-S owners around here than i had thought...

Heh, we still have five 6speeds listed in our stock, all are Nighthawk Black or Satin Silver. I think they're all non-Navi.

The CL has finished its production run so yes, dealers are pretty much not gonna get any more, so any left will be DX'd wherever they will sell.

Well if the last ones are leaving the factory over the next few days, and it takes around 2-3 weeks to take care of shipping and arrival and PDI and delivery, yes that would make sense.

He's even farther north of Ann Arbor than i am, probably about near where 96 and US 23 intersect, and a little west.

>2. Any specific problems to look out for, or anything that plagues the CL's in general.

Only problem was that the interior rearview mirror fell down.

>3. How is the paint quality in general? Any specific colors known to wear prematurely?

No paint problems either.

>4. How is the general reliability of the CL's been so far? Any common problems?

Always starts and runs well. MPG is in the range of 20>30 City>Highway. It's only required oil changes so far.

Good luck.
