Need link or info on selling a car legals, tax, and forms
Yes I've searched sites, but I need details on the tax/financial aspects. I may buy a car in a neighboring state, their tax is only 3.25%. In my state it is 6.25%. but then it will be registered in another state. Is it then a small fee to transfer registration to my state and avoid the 6.35% tax where I live?
I need bill of sale forms too, found one online but wonder if there is a better site with all this info. thanks.

Well I don't know if this will help BUT. When I bought my CLS from Mcdavid in Austin, they called Louisiana DMV and got the Louisiana tax numbers and what not. So I believe you only have to pay taxes in the state in which it is being registered. I could be wrong now....
did you sell your 6 speeder yet ?

Where is my super sauce?
Yes, my understanding is that you only have to pay taxes in your own state if you buy the car out of state.
Look at your state DMV/DOT website and I'm sure there'll be something on this. Plenty of people that live near a state's border buy their car from across the street, so to speak.
Mr. Greenmonster's AAA recommendation is good too -- we used AAA to re-title and register our cars when we moved to a new state a few years ago. They charged a small surcharge, but took care of everything and made the process quite painless.

No, haven't sold it yet.... and I'm not an AA member. I wanted to pay the lower taxes in OK and not in my home state TX. OK is 3.25%, TX is 6.25%.
If I buy an OK registered car from an OK resident can't I just pay OK tax and transer the title to TX later.

Sucks. In DE it's 2.75%...in PA 6%...
