need helping turnin CL-S in to SLEEPER

i have around 500 dollars budget. i wanna try to do at least a couple mods with that instead of spending it all on one. maybe get intake, exhaust or a chip. my car is STOCK. 50,000 miles 2001. any suggestions. im a newbie so please type slowly. haha.

http://auto.consumerguide.com/auto/u...ex.cfm/id/2485

at this site about a lil more then a half down the page it lists trouble spots for 01-03 CL's. I dont think any of those problems apply to my car but i was wondering since I have warranty under carmax (huge used car dealership that allows me to go to Acura directly under their warranty) am I able to go and fix those trouble spots even thought they dont affect my car? and also what happened to that whole transmission fix, extended warranty?? if you guys could fill me in.. i just got my CL-S on the 7th of Jan 05.

Chip runs over $500, so that is out...

Intake will run ~$200 for an AEM
Headers run between $300-$1200 (stone or CT)
Exhaust will depend...alot like magnaflos...that will run you ~$200 with install
Pulleys are also available, ~$275 for the set of three

You can get all of these from official vendors here that will treat you well (juniorbean, excelerate, etc..)

In my opinion, spend about $800 on intake and a $600 alphawerks header set for the most gains for the $$

then get the exhaust and a CT B-pipe

Pulleys and SC are next...

Good luck, your wallet will need it being on here. I promised the wife I would not spend any money on this car....I have spent ~$1300 so far (since July 2004), not including my stereo setup....and plan on another $1000 this year at least....(and I am likely considered "cheap" on this board...ask allmotor or bluecls

Intake and exhaust will be loud will be out of the question! If you add NOS the only way to wake up your neighbors is to lay down 100ft of rubber at 3 am in the morning.

UR crank pulley (get it from the groupbuy on Off-Topic)

or

Headers - Stone or OBX (oh I can't believe I even said that)

or

nitrous

I'll assume you'll need to pay someone to install these so tack on a few bucks for install.

Comptech Icebox intake along with either Stone or OBX headers like NSXNEXT said.

Car will still look and pretty much sound stock with those two mods installed. But it won't "feel" like stock.

Best bet is to save that $500 and get the headers first.. You get the most bang for your buck with headers, best mod for our car IMO.. 25-30 Hp... or get the Comptech IceBox..

There's a bunch of little DIY also..

LTRAIN :

This is the best advice and the one I'd personally follow. Although in addition to these mods, I would also think about debaging. A sleeper NEVER advertises.

Here's some ideas.

Your best bet for $500: Witht he AEM CAI and OBX Stainless Headers you will run 14.2-14.3 in the quarter. Cat-back / axle-back exhaust will not make a difference unless you have some type of forced induction. That's the only two engine performance mods I've made, it makes a huge difference, I think I've spent $550 total (including shipping). For used parts you might be able to get everything for $350-$400. Also, I will sell you my front Cross-Drilled & Slotted Rotors for $30 plus shipping, 60% of the Kevlar pads included (paid $225). They make a big difference in brake feel. I ordered a full brake kit and do not need the previous upgrade.

Sleeper2

Go with Comptech Icebox if you want the car to sound stock or go with the AEM CAI or V2 Instake if you want the bad ass sound under wide open throttle.

BTW: Nitrous bottles run out of course and need refilling. $$$$

Also, if you get OBX Headers do a search on DIY tips. They do require a little grinding with the dremmel tool. Just takes time and 3 or 4 griding bits. The CAI installs in ~30 minutes.

LTRAIN-
Hit me up.. i to recently purchased a CL-S and live in Loudoun County, VA, very close to you... ive been working w/ hondas and acuras for years and would be willing to help you out with installing these parts for a small price, so you dont get raped by one of the local import shops in the area.. i bought my CL-S last week and have been loving it ever since, ive been into drag racing and making all my previous project cars, rape other cars on the street, ever see a little honda civic beat a brand new corvetter z06?? mine did :-) neways good choose of car, ive been eyeing the CL-S for a long time.. Now if i could just find someone to buy the car thats taking the CLs spot in the garage i would be a happy camper.. :-)

I prefer UTZ

There is the UniChip available for the CL-S. Although, you really need to start off with the standard intake/headers/pulleys/exhaust. That'll get you around 225-230whp.

I'll sell you my 100% unused and uninstalled UniChip for less than $500. I think I paid $650?? I can't remember - it's been about a year now. Since I went the Supercharger route I have absolutely no use for it. You'll have to get it custom tuned to take full advantage of it but it seems worth it. PM me if you're interested.

you should concider who you're taking your advice from...
trust me...take out the lower resonator and add a K&N drop in...this is 50$ and 99% of any cold air performance.. then get headers, and a UR crank and you'll go from loosing to mustang GT's to beating them convincingly!

id get the other cheap brand before the OBX ...alpha i think...there s a thread something like "fitement issue resolved" and i was maybe assuming you , and or you and a freind could do this yourself...the K&N drop in you certainly can do
...the UR crank is pretty darn easy also ...the headers can be a bitch...but i did them on my back
