Need help on Toyo tire pressures

I just got T1-S Proxes, they are same as stock 215-50-17. The sidewall says max pressure with full load is 44 psi. Well when i checked them today, pressure was set at 44 all around. The shop i got them at, Motorsports Dynamics is a well respected local speed shop and i'd like to believe they know what they are doing. But i would like to get feedback on what you think the best all around pressure is. If i recall someone else had theirs at 39,whats the advantage of running that high ? Thanks.

I'd stick around 38psi....44 is way too much.

There is a difference...

You got the 215/50-17s which are NOT XL rated (They do not have the reinforced casing. The toyo page is kind of screwed-up -- it should show 50 (or 51) max PSI for tires with the "*" (See my sig).

The 215/50ZR17-91Y is only rated for 44 lbs max. I would watch your tire pressure. On your tire the absolute max pressure is 44PSI -- and no more!! On my 235/45s with the reinforced casing, the max pressure is 50/51 PSI!

I am the one running 39PSI (racing pressure), but the tire will take 50 lbs, and the footprint is just right.
