Need help re: Cupholders Please

I've got an early production CL-S with the rotten cupholders. I dug up the part # in archives, but can't see how to replace the unit. It looks like I've got to remove the whole center armrest and wood trim to get at it. Am I missing something?? Any one have a dealer in the SF Bay Area who knows how to make the fix??

Thanks in advance

Have you got the cls or clp ? I guess it doesn't matter. I have the 187th production model. I bought the new one and just put the puppie on in without any problems. DON'T take your center arm rest out ! Try it both ways ! It shoud slide right in !

Yep, you need to remove the old ones by first taking out the little, useless cups and then just reach in and pull the whole assembly out. It should come out without having to unscrew anything or remove anything else. The new part will just plop right in, no need to fit or trim.

When you order the new part (it's for the TL), I found it helps to just ask for the part number and don't mention what type of car you have. Otherwise, they will probably insist on getting [another] CL part for you or worse, they will correct your order for the CL and deliver you something you can't use.

Just order part # X, charge me ~$8.00, and I'll take care of the rest.

All right...I feel like an idiot. I figured it out. Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill!!! Thanks for the help all.

I believe the last six digits of the Vin are the production numbers

Got the new cupholder last weekend for my CLS, but it doesn't quite fit right. The little doors rub when you close them now. I figured I'd have to break out a file and do a few modifications - anyone else have this problem or better suggestions?
Thanks.

I just used a utility knife to cut off the two tabs on the front. With them gone, the cupholder fits down enough that the doors easily clear it. It still fits VERY securely without the tabs.
