Exclamation Need help QUICK!!!

So my car won't start, I just put in a new battery, and recieved it back from Acura about 2 1/2 weeks ago. It turns over but won't start, I'm guessing the starter. I was in San Francisco this past weekend and tried starting it in the morning and it had trouble starting so I tapped the gas a little and it fired right up but this morning I go to leave for work and the fucker turns over but just won't start......any help GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Thanks,
Baum

If it still cranks it's prolly not the starter. Bad fuel pump?

Could be corroded battery cables as well. Seems to be common in your situation. A good cleaning of the cables & the battery posts fixes it.

It's a brand new battery, as in 3 days old so no corrosion on the posts. As for the cables, would you say a little sand paper action? I don't understand how the battery or cables would prevent it from starting. It still cranks and the lights, stereo, etc all work great. The stereo says I'm at 11.8 volts.....so......

The battery is a Sears Weather Ready....when the car is running at idle it's pushing 12.6-13.1 volts and while driving it'll read 14.0-14.1 volts. It very well could be my battery b/c I NEVER had this problem prior to changing it out. The Acura battery ended up having a dead cell so the volts would go from 14.1 down to mid 11ish WHILE DRIVING....thanks for all your guys inputs so far too

Look guys, if his car is cranking, it's NOT the battery, cables, corrosion, etc...unless it's cranking very slowly. His problem is probably either fuel delivery or ignition. Have you tried taking your key out of the ignition and putting it back in? I know that sound stupid but if the receiver in the steering column didn't read your key right, (you know, the chip in your key) it will crank forever and never start. Pumping the gas will do no good either. These baby's don't have holley 4 barrell carburators on them. Electronic Fuel Injection does not respond and pump gas into the cylinders when pumping the gas...only when running does it do that. good luck!

So me and the guys figured out that I'm NOT getting fuel flow. We took the intake off and sprayed some carb cleaner and it fires right up but then dies after we quit spraying. My guess is the fuel pump so does anybody know where thats at?

When you turn the key on, do you hear the fuel pump working at all? Also, if you squeeze the rubber hoses going to the fuel rail, do you feel pressure in them? It's either your pump or the ECU not triggering your injectors to fire is my guess.

Fuel pump is at the gas tank. Most likley is a bad relay, fuel pumps dont go out regularly. It might also be that the switch to cut power to the fuel pump might have been triggered, you know the one that is set off by a spring when you get into an accident or somthin. Thts located behind the carpet on the left wall of the trunk. If the red button is up, then press it.

Also, i dont know how you checked that your not getting fuel flow, but if you dont have a fuel pressure kit with you(which I assume you dont) then there should be a clearish looking bulb thats at the back of your engine with a 7/8 nut on it. Take tht off and put the fuel line in an empty gas can and crank the engine to see if fuel is coming out. Also if you have a test light handy, you could check the fuel pump relay and fuses for continunity.

There is no way that you can hear the fuel pump working over the racket of the engine cranking.

When we took the intake off and sprayed carb choke/cleaner in it it started up and when reved it would run while we kept spraying but when we stopped sparying it would die in seconds, thats why I assumed I'm not getting fuel flow. Where are all these relays I need to check? I read another post that said under the steering column and it's an 1-8 adapter missing 4 or something like that. I'm going to keep in mind what all of you have suggested adn try it all tomorrow when I'm not so frustrated. Thanks for all the help so far you guys are great!

There is only one fuel pump relay and it might be under the glove box or in the fuse box under the steering column. Take the cover off(just a few clips) and look at the underside of it. It will tell you all the positions of the fuses and what they do. Take out any tht have anything to do with fuel and check to see if they are broken. Also there is another fuse box under the hood, check that as well. One other thing i forgot to mention, i believe your model year CL has a throttle plate(brass looking plate about 2in in diameter) in the air box somewhere. If that is clogged, it could be creating a seal that wont let air to the engine. Clean that with some carb cleaner(throttle plate cleaner if you have it) and a rag, then spray a little down in there. Then start the engine an rev it while spraying for a little while and then stop spraying but keep reving at about 4k RPMS for a little while, then stop and let the engine idle(if it doesnt stall) otherwise without more infor or looking at it myself, cant really tell ya more.

Also your engine wouldnt start at all if it didnt have fuel flow, but it might not be enough pressure, its most likley an intake issue.

if you know tht you might have bakged it in last few days then maybe, but its not likley, just trying to point out all of the possibilities. Worst comes to worst, you have to take it an acura dealer and pay an hour to have them diagnose it

Is your fuel pump fuse blown ?
I blew mine twice and the car would crank but not turn over.

Part of the immobilizer system I believe. I was doing the paper clip jumper trick to turn off the SRS light.

Just thought about something else....while I was on my road trip my amp would get hot and shut off and then turn back on a few minutes later (it's mounted where the spare tire should be) and one time I smelled a burn wire smell but only once for a few minute or two. I'm pulling the whole trunk apart today after work but could that be anything to think about or most likely just the amp??

Part itself s/b not too much as far as $$$ is concerned & if you can do the r/r yourself. Now if you're like me & not too mechanically inclined (I also don't have a full set of tools, just basic hand tools ), then the labor issue will be a main factor. Too bad you're too far from my area because my bro has a repair shop & we can see if we can save you some $$$ like we've done to some members here at the site...

Did you check all the fuses? Both Drivers Side, Passenger Side, and Under the Hood?

Same here, kindly let us know what the findings were after they've checked it out. Good luck on that & hope it's not too serious nor too much $$$$
