Need Help! OBX Header Parts!

The 3 Nuts where the Header connects to the B-Pipe fell off (rear bank). I don't know what the 'speed shop' did, but they apparently didn't do something right.

The dealer called and asked if there is an O ring at this joint. Can anyone confirm this? If so, can someone tell me where to get the O Ring and the 3 bolts & nuts for the rear header connection to the b-pipe?

The dealer tried using some other bolts, but said it really wasn't a perfect fit, and I still had an exhaust leak cause I seem to be missing an O ring.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

sucks, sounds like the original shop didn't put the bolts on tight enough. Call OBX and find out the size or hopefully find someone who has their headers in the box still. Should be able to pick up the bolts anywhere. NOt sure about the O ring though. Wonder if the stock one would work.

Here is a pic of mine, looks like there is an O ring in that plastic bag.

I already know its coming, but this isn't OBX's fault. Its the speed shop's fault for doing a shitty job with the bolts & nuts on the rear bank.

I will say that OBX has the worst customer service in the history of retail. They were absolutely no help at all.

The bolts can be purchased anywhere really - just get ones capable of withstanding the heat and use washers. You should be able to use the a factory O-ring, I believe.

werd. just make sure the bolts you get are strong enough to withstand that type of pressure.

there are markings on the head of the bolt to let you know what type of pressure they can handle.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
:sqnteek: Funny...mine fell off twice. The first time the shop said that the initial installer must of stripped off the bolt...the second time I took it to another shop and made sure all the bolts were tight before releasing it to me. Both times were the rear bank...the first happened 6 months after the install and the 2nd happened 6 months after the first.

:shakehd: I'm starting to think that it may not be coincidence afterall.

Yes, there is an "O" ring at that location.

The dealer should have one in stock.

Better yet, I swung by the local MIDAS, and they gave me one for free!

Mantis just get the work done at Midas. I had a similar problem with my OBX headers and they had all the necessary O rings, nuts, and bolts to fix the problem.

Thanks for the info guys. I should have gotten my car back and taken it to Midas like Black CLS said. It would have been a fuck of a lot cheaper.

The dealer is taking down the exhaust as we speak. They are going to determine if the headers are warped, or if it is simply a missing O ring problem. Hope to hear from them soon.

DarrinB, they won't warranty this kind of work. Hell, they didn't warranty my motor mounts either.

Not the bolt itself, but OBX's choice of the bolt and nut. Sounds like they may have used cheap low quality parts to maximize their profit margin.

Combine that with not having a Customer Service dept overhead . . well, that explains why they sell them so cheap. :P
