hey everyone i have a 2001 acura cls with code p0171.. i really don't know whats going on. A couple people told me o2 sensors but i changed downstream and upstream two times in a month... i also did a tune up and changed main relay. Car shakes after being drove for more then 30min. when i go to start it up it takes me a while to get it going.. Also did new egr and coolant temp sensor

 

did you do some maintenance before the code appeared? Does the exhaust smell like gas?

There could be an exhaust leak for bank 1 which is the rear I believe (against firewall). If you start the car can you feel a leak where the rear headers are? (don't burn yourself)

 

Yes I did clean out the egr ports and put a new gasket on it.. The car was sitting for two years.. An yes it has a strong smell of gas when started.. It's hard to get to the rear headers but I will try

 

Will this also cause a hard start and I misfire a times?

 

Did you put fuel stabilizer in before storing it? I'd add some quality gas to the tank first. Did you change the oil? Check the plugs?

Is the idle steady or is it jumping?

If there is an exhaust leak before the primary O2 then the sensor reads too much air and adds fuel, thus the gas smell.
