Navigation Update v2.80

Has anyone sprung for the v2.80 update on our navi? It doesn't look like much is being added this year.

I bought the DVD last year and returned it. The maps were slightly updated but there is NOTHING else updated. POI aren't really increased and the routing software still sucks and the graphics are still the same old crap. Not worth $180 when you can get a good TomTom for about $100 or less, especially with all the sales around Xmas coming. Went back to using my backup disc.

There was one update since you bought the car that I thought was worth it. It included icons for gas stations, restaraunts, etc - they even updated the voice ... why I am not sure. I forget which disc it was, but I have it in my closet gathering dust if you'd like me to send it to you. I think I have three versions actually gathering dust ......

GK83, I received your e-mail. I'll try to get it in the mail tomorrow. Another member requested one first so he'll get the newest disc. I think I have versions 2.40, 2.20, and 2.11. Therefore you'll get 2.20.

acura navi is garbage. the waypoints and streets are listed under little districts rather than under city names.

compared to every other navi i have ever used. Acura's set-up is the most ass-backwards one i've seen yet.

updating it doesn't fix it either as I drove a 2010 CSX with navi used it for 2 weeks and i'd say 10% of the addresses i put in were either not there or hidden under little district names.

my mom's 07 accord is the same way..

like WTF.. can't they get it right

The 2010 TSX uses a different navi system than ours. I have never had any major issues with addresses. Maybe once in a while the address is off by a few houses, but that is it. I have more issues with looking up gas sttaions, etc. just to arrive and figure out it closed up. I am unsure what you mean by little districts.

Overall, the system is way outdated and my TomTom I use for travel is much, much better.

Yea personally I find the honda and acura navi's to be the best compared to all the other factory navi's. Aftermarket might be better though. Uncle's 2008 camry navigation is just horrible compared to ours and my dad's 2010 maxima navi interface is like a bad popup virus (unrelated alerts every 5 minutes). "flooding alert" when it's like sunny and bright outside.

That being said, I'm getting this navigation update because my disc is still the 2003 version and there's a bunch of new roads built around me since then so I'll let you know how it goes.

Sorry I was wrong. I have v2.40, v2.11c, and v2.05. I mailed v2.40 to HappyVirus and v2.11c to GK83 tonight. If anyone wants v2.05, let me know.

i am a service technician so i go to many many many places using the gps so the only reason i know is because I would use it 6 or more times a day.

you'd be amazed, as I was, how they categorize addresses under districts instead of cities. its insulting really.

if i could bitch acura headquarters out to actually make a difference i surely would.

they should team up with garmin or something to use their methods, and keep their (acura's) layout, which i do really like.

i guess nothing is perfect

Got the DVD today

My DVD: 1999 Ver. 1.09J
^^ Needless to say...the maps actually display the "existing" gas stations, as opposed to gas station turned into daycare..LOL

Thanks again!!
