they mean look at the computer itself, not just the "shelf" that the navi computer is screwed on to

Werd. Have to remove the screws and pull the DVD unit out to check the sticker on the bottom of it.

You do have to unhook the wires. There are 3 wire bundles. Just press in on the button on the connector and pull them out. It takes less then 10 seconds.

why not take out the instrument cluster cover. its only two screws.
take off those two screws and pull on it and it should pop out with the navi screen i think

That's a lot more work. You sure it's even in there. Removing the DVD player from the trunk is simple. Takes 5 minutes to remove and reinstall. 2 screws on each side, pull the wiring harnesses and you're set. Reassemble and you're set.

Did you check on the left side of the glove box? It is usually placed there. Otherwise, call around to different acura dealers. One of them will give you the unlock code. I called 3 different dealers and the 3rd one gave it to me without question.

i had to get a new nav deck. the screen SN's dont matter screen to screen. its the dvd unit that has the number on it. you HAVE to unscrew the deck and from the mount and look under it. theres a sticker there with the SN. al the plugs are different sizes, you cant fuck it up.
i went to the stealership to get the code and they told me that "$80 we have to take the screen out of the dash, IM TELLING YOU THATS WHERE THE NUMBER IS!!" told him i hope he gets a flat ont he way home. walked to the shop in the back and got a wrench form them to unscrew the deck and the tech told me the code in 20 seconds
