It's tough and expensive, but a few have done it on here. IMO, not worth the . You would be better off going aftermarket with a double din dash kit.

thxs, i do like some of the aftermarket kits that are flush mount (oem like), but many of the aftermarkets are the ones that flipout, and ive seen from experience with friends those are targets for carjacking.

Hey rkv I finally did my CL Type-S this past weekend after months of planning and studying. Everything works great! It is ALOT of work but in my mind worth it. It took me about a day and a half. My next step is to buy the 08' Acura Navi disc that just came out. Good luck on whatever you decide. Oh yeah, total cost for everything including supplies was about $900.

Yeah I bought the display, DVD unit & bracket, antenna and wiring harness from dshearon off of this board. He is one of the first that did the conversion. He took it out and installed a carputer or something. He helped me alot throughout the process as well as artbran. Look them up on the boards for their write ups and posts. I bought the climate control unit off of ebay(which actually worked perfect!). I bought the dash piece, hazard switch and screws from one of the acura discounted websites. Got all the additional supplies(wire loom, 18 gauge wire, solder, etc.) from Fry's here in the Dallas area. I studied and asked alot of questions before attempting this project. I can email you pics to prove it and to make you drool. Dshearon did not bother hooking up the climate control features or the voice cables but they were actually pretty easy. My advice to you like others before me have stated study and plan your butt off and it's not that bad. Planning is the key. Getting everything ready ahead of time so that the day of install the worst part is tearing the car apart not connecting wires. Something else that saved me ALOT of time was using quick tappers. During the install process I didn't have to do any soldering in the car. No problems so far and I'm lovin every minute of my OEM Factory Acura Navigation System as of 11/10/07. Peace & Good Luck!

Evan, I got the display, dvd, climate, bezel and radio from ebay with the old harness from a 2003 cl. You don't need the radio only the other four. I took apart the harness and rewired it so I didn't have to take my dash all apart. You can get all the wire diagrams from Acurzine posts. These guys are great. I still have the ones I used if you need them. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Yes my steering wheel controls work. You have to install, and program a peswix:

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=110

It basically transforms your steering wheel controls, into an infered remote signal that the Pioneer unit picks up. It works great. Plus, I have seemeless IPOD integration, XM, Serius and Navtraffic.

I wouldn't go any other way.

Hey, sorry I took so long to reply. . .I forgot I posted in this thread!! Anyway, the whole thing cost about a G-note, and thats including the rear-display camera, ipod interface, and dvd player. I bought all of the above on cardomain.com last winter for like $600!! It was an amazing deal I could not pass up. To have it installed I went to a place over in Union. I believe it's called "Installations Unlimited" and they made that custom double-DIN piece for my dash. I believe they charged me like $200 for the install, double-DIN piece, and steering wheel controls. I strongly reccomend anyone in the NY/NJ area go to this place to have any kind of custom work done. They do great work at a reasonable price, and are very nice people to do business with!!! If theres anything else you guys wanna know, feel free to PM me!!
