Navi as rear view camera

I saw on the new Q from infiniti they set up the a mini camera on the back of the car and has the display show up on the navi screen . is this possible w/ our navi?

I don't know, but it would sure be COOL.

They could use the ON/OFF "trigger" from the passenger mirror that tilts down when you put the shifter in “R”.

With enough effort and time anything is possible...

I also like the cars with the ultrasonic sensors on the passenger side rear, rear, and driver side rear. It is like having a friend help you park in tight spaces!

Well... there is no video input on our navi...

And as of yet... everyone thats tried hasnt been able to splice into the navis input signals.

So... the only determining factor is whether or not you could get a signal from the camera to the navi...

You would prolly have to have some sort of manual switcher to switch between the singal coming out of the navi computer and the video signal...

The acura navi is an alpine system correct? so the output should be similar to an alpine navi - anyone hacked one of those?

Actually This is possible. You CAN tap into the navi display. The Display should be a standard NTSC/PAL input. You would need a signal converter built for this application. The camera is a standard composit output (like your VCR/DVD player) I was thinking of doing something like this awhile back, but I got delayed in the process.

Anyone in the Miami/Ft.lauderdale area wanna donate their type-s WITH NAVI for a few hours for experimentations??? I don't have a navi, so I don't know what acura used for the display signal, But, Rest assured, this is possible. Anything is possible with electronics!

I like how they put the camera on the spoiler. That should be included in TL and CL with navi. Correct me if I'm wrong is that Acura Legend/Honda Inspire?

Honda Inspire = Acura 3.2 TL

Honda Saber = Acura 2.5 TL (the old one at least)

Cmon guys... these are your brethren cars here!

Oh and I'd just like to ask you fellas what you thought of that spoiler in general. (disregarding the CCD Cam)

I don't like spoilers in genetal. To me that look too "Pep Boys" and cheapens the looks of the car.

I believe the Jap version of the TL has something like that. The camera was mounted on the spoiler so you guys may want to take a look at that. Down side, the spoiler alone was like $750.

WEll, in anycase, the ccd cams go for $85 now a days. The voltage to power the cam reqired 12vdc (how convenient). All you need is the cam and plans to make the navi compatible with a composite signal. This CAN be done guys.. But I say, Screw mounting the ccd cam on your spoiler, put it in your back seat, record all the "Lucky Dates", convert the images to MPEG, then upload them to us.

It would be nice to have a cam to play back all the IS300s that you smoke.

uhhhh... okay man, whatever you say. I'm sure we all have our different tastes, but I never met a person who didn't think a 355 was beautiful. Similarly, on the TL board not a single soul said this spoiler was anything less than beautiful. You don't like its overall lines? If you see this car fly by you, you'd barely be able to tell there was a center mount... much less that there was a 'supposedly' cheap looking camera in the middle.

I'm sorry if it looks cheap.

Its OEM in Japan. So are fogs, and Wood Trimmed Steering wheels, Inspire tail lights, etc.
