i did the secrete navi menu and saw a button on the bottom of the screen stating downloading? what does this do?

 

You mean the "Force Download" option?

If you have no reason too I would advise against pushing it. It even says not to in the Helms manual.

However when I got the tint done on my back window the Navi was all messed up until the tint dryed on the rear window. Instead of just waiting I thought that pressing the force download button was the answer.

After I pushed it you get these horizontal bars, same ones that come on the screen when you update with a new DVD, that go across the screen and show your “downloading” process.

I'm assuming its just DL info from the DVD. Either way after it was done it didn't help the problem however a day or two after when the tint did dry the Navi worked fine.

So in the end it didn't seem that pressing the button does anything bad however it’s better to be safe then sorry.

 

when you press that button it basically re loads the software

i had to do it once cause i was playing with the colors and messed up the system badly

It is the "cool" diagnostic menus... hit menu /AC/Ccanel for like 10sec and you should be there... do mess it up though!.

So you just hold down the menu/AC/Cancel buttons at the same time for 10 seconds?

what happens if you mess it up? and how do you get out of the diagnostic menu?

 

will that reset the PIN number??? i bought my car used and havent bothered to take it to the dealer to reset it...
