NAVI losing the north,,,,

I noticed most of the time when I leave charted streets to something like Commercial Building Parking lots, Hotel Resorts' Parking lots, my NAVI start losing north.

Yesterdar, for at least 10-15 miles, the NAVI was acting weirdo. The CLs Icon kept going off road, and pointing to the wrong direction.

Is it the High temprature?, or, leaving the road and confusing the fussy logic?

Any thoughts?

1. Was the trunk very hot (I've noticed that the car sitting still in high temps MAY make the NAVI a little cranky sometimes...

2. Did you get all three yellow or green bars in the NAVI display?

That is wierd.

I am off the database roads allot here in this part of KS. It seems to maintain north for me when off road. It does screw up the distance to destination a little bit.

It could be a combination of off database and weak signal.

Are there allot of tall buildings around?

If so this can block the number of Sats the receiver can see, thereby cutting accuracy and causing drift.
That is the generic GPS answer, unless it has to do with the software.

1) It was a hot day but I parked in the shade.

2) I was able to capture at least 3 GPS SAT.

Still, the GPS keeps going off road.... However, sooner or later the NAVI will get right and everything will be okay.

Thanks anyways for the comments.

If you are talking about an occasional brain lock -- it happens (at least to me).

However, it is rare...

I have noticed high temps making the units get cranky, that is why I asked

Nashua... I have same problem... every now and then the navi will show me that i am going down a different road in a different direction then i am... its down this for up to like 5 minutes one time. Really fucked up.

More often than not it just shows me going the right direction but on a parrallel road and then shows me making a turn about 30 seconds after i actually make the turn.
