Navi Conversion = sucess!

No pics as of yet. They come tomorrow.

I just need the Navi DVD which will come in in tomorrow or thursday.

A/C working, everything is working as of right now.

It doesnt feel like my car as it now has a screen in the dash haha.

Now all I have to do is change my sig and add that its now a Navi.

Oh and since i thought and was told that the original bulb was bad, i bought another screen and drive off of ebay on Monday. It came in today and when I found out that the original screen is working, I also plugged in the stuff i got off of ebay. They work too. Now I'm either going to put it in the TL or just re-sell it soon..

Conversion cost:
$775 for drive, screen, dash panel, climate control, pigtails to cc
$35 for pigtails to drive
$100 for all wiring (still have A LOT left over)
$10 for Solder
$5 for some random things here and there (blown fuses and so on)..

Grand total: $925

I love it..

I dont have any of the interior all torn apart as I was too frustrated with the screen problem. But I'll have them tm with the completed project..

the wiring is the most time consuming.. other wise its pretty straight foreward. Just have to read the diagrams and go over your stuff to make sure you are not crossing any wires.. oh and if you can get the pigtails to make things easier, then do so as they are life savers (believe me, doing it all by hand and making something stay on the small pins would be a total pain)

Did you read my one post in the other thread about the climate control or not? either way, you can use the Navi climate control just as you would your regular one but you will not have control of the A/C on and A/C Off, where the air blows, nor the fan speed. However, for those of you who keep it on Auto and set a temp, then you are OK..

What is so great about the factory navigation? Seems rather expensive and much more work then just buying a double din indash nav unit. It could be very well so that im missing something, but the only real road block I think you could run into would be finding a double din kit. I know that there is a member floating around here that will custom make a kit specifically for the unit you buy.

Anyways just a question. Good job with the whole conversation. Would love to see pictures!

The reason to having the factory navi is 1: to keep the stock look, and 2: the screen for the factory navi is in a much better, eye level position for a navi than a replacement dd screen. And, the conversion keeps idle hands at bay. Good work, put up some pics.

I thought about this as well, if I do add navi to my car, I might get the factory dash kit and then use an aftermarket navi system to fill in the hole. For $1k, you can get a decent navi system that is probably better than the '03 Acura system.

I understand about trying to keep it stock looking and give you credit for it. But for me, I'd probably go a different route.

Yeah, I never understood why people here put such a premium on getting a CL with navi It's a system that's based on 7 y/o technology...

yea I'm trying out my new cannon camera.. I'll get some pics today.

Oh and its because I wanted the stock look. Thats the reason I'm not switching out the Blows factory head unit. I like the stock look.

And yeah I have trouble with the location of the wiring that went from the screen to the CC and yea, they did help. I think that I'm going to make a thread for the wiring diagrams so that future users can do this too.

Since i'm now experienced in this, I have to do it to my dad's TL now.. haha Just need the CC, The dash, the flasher button and see if i can find some pigtails...

Yes I had to make a mount for it. And yes i know its not centered, but there is a very good reason for that...

Oh and as you can tell, the subs are out...

Haha, well I look at it this way. Since there are a few that were totaled, I'm making the Navi ones a little less rare... Haha

It took me about 4 hours to make the harness that went from the rear to the front , and another 7 hours to solder the front end up. All the wires are correct and its quite nice. full behind all that..

Hey Artbran very good job and very impressive. My question is were you able hook up the audio part of the install? Do you hear the lady's voice giving directions meaning "turn-by-turn"? Thanks.

You may be able to find some of these parts from the OEM website. And then also ebay would be a good source. As far as your posts, you need 30 (i believe) posts before you can send/receive messages.
