Do not feel bad, I got my on March 1st and I still got a ticket a couple of weeks later. In addition, my V1 was not working and KA band would go off every 5 minute or so. So, be greatful you did get my V1. Thus, I am returning my.

Unless DPS was in my garage clocking parked cars, I seriously doubt there were any false alarms in a closed garage. Plus with the truck off, well, it wasn't the truck either.
How distracting and annoying....

I know that a lot of folks hold up the Passport 8500 as a great detector and cheaper than the V1 - but you get what you pay for, IMHO! I love my V1 ![](http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/biggrin.gif)

Whoah!! Ka bands are dangerous man.. Rarely would I see an automatic door or bank trigger that band... U should return the unit ASAP.
...I still have my 8500 Passport, but have been using the V1 for the past 2 months now. I have to say I do know the diff between a false alarm and the real macoy.. The substantial diff is that there is no such thing as a false alarm.. None of these detectors have ever picked up a signal that did not exist.. Chances are is that it's picking up a source that you can not visually identify.. I too misconceived the definition of a "false alarm" when reading post about them but I've realized it's solely based on my visual interpretation of the signal alarmed. I have to say the V1 has allowed me to drive with "bigger" shoulders on the tightly patroled roads.. But needless to say, the P8500 could do the job just as well minus the wonderful perks of signal location/count that the V1 offers. But I do have to say don't make a generalization that a $100 < radar detector will give you the same performance as a V1 tho.. The biggest performance different will do with it's range and rear radar detection capabilities which I have to say the V1 out performs the P8500 in..

Well you did say that the other car had one too...maybe you were picking up his radar? It could happen...
I personally love my V1, although around my area, there are a lot of radar triggered camera's and such...ay Ka bands Everytime I drive by the banks and Sav-On's

KA band is almost never a false alarm. If you are getting lots of false KA's, send your unit back.

Absolutely! Ka = trouble! IMMEDIATE trouble!
As in instant-on, stalkers, etc. In fact, I'll say that I NEVER wait on a Ka or LIDAR alert. Jam on brakes first and get within 10 of the limit, then figure out what/where it is! ![](http://www.acura-cl.com/ubb/wink.gif)

One of the things I love most about my 'Vette is the brakes! Damn things can cause nosebleeds!
They will absolutely get you from "lose your license" to "semi-legal" faster than anything I've ever driven before!
