My salesman's pimpin' an '02 NSX!!!

OMG.
I was at the dealer yesterday and I saw this hot new NSX parked in the lot by the showroom. I was checkin' it out while I was on the celly talking to a friend and waiting for my car. The new headlights are phatty projection HID style.... no more popup headlights. And the wheels were HOT. I forget the exact design but they looked great.

It even had big exhausts on it. Real nice.

Then I was shooting the shit with some of the techs** in the shop and I eventually asked whose NSX that was. They told me whose it was and my jaw dropped. It was my salesman's.

So I was talking to him later on and he's like "yeah I'm 30, single, no kids.... wanted to have some fun."

Like damn bro, that car is HOT. You could get mad tail with that thing!

**Which reminds me one of them said the reason Willwood brake kits aren't good for our cars is that they pick up a lot of debris from daily driving and need to be rebuilt often because of that. He said yeah they're great for the track but not for street cars.

Well, he must be earning huge commission or have a 65% discount on the "merchandise."

As for him saying it's only good for the street, I dont' know. I haven't driven a 2002 yet, but they're likely the same NSX that rolled off the line initially....very easy to drive.

Whoah whoah whoah, I was talking about Willwood brake kits for OUR car, not the NSX.

And the salesman is Salesman of the Year for like 1996-2001 or something like that. I think he's leasing it, but still. NSX.

Naw think about man. For the past 6 years he's been salesman of the year. If he puts away $400 in savings from every check he makes for 6 years that's $124,800. It's not much to save every month and if he doesn't have anything to worry about???? Sheeeit.....

And I'm pretty sure he's leasing it, so he doesn't even need that much money.

Oh for sure. I don't doubt that. Blowing that much in savings on a car is a bad move.

You can lease a new 02 NSX for $995/month for 48 months, 12k miles year, tax and tags up front (about $5500)......thats the retail program.

So, I'm sure he's paying less than that. I know for a fact my salesguy made $150k last year (he's been at Acura for over 10 years).

If your single pulling down even $100k, you too can have an NSX. Or be even smarter and get a nice used 97 that looks basically the same for $55k or so.

Nah the new wheels, exhaust, and headlights are enough reason to go for the '02.

They get a weekly check and generally get a back-end reserve check at the end of the month (sometimes a car allowance as well).

They also work a job that runs their life.

6 days/week. 9-9 everyday.

Its shitty work. This kid at my current job used to do it.

The commission they make per car isn't that much AT ALL. Only the good one's stay in it and actually make a decent living.

Actually, most Acura dealers are closed on Sunday and the salespeople get off a day during the week......although there are many car dealers open on Sunday.

Only whore car sales jobs make you work 6 days a week. I have a few friends in the car business and they don't work more than 45-50 hours per week.

The amount sales people get per car really depends on what they're selling....a Honda Civic is generally a $50 dollar flat, but sell an Odyssey for MSRP (thats what they go for) and thats $500.

To make good money, you need to be selling Acura, BMW, Benz (or any car that sells in volume and holds gross) and be there for awhile so you get fresh walk-ins and your lease renewals.

Here's part of an email he sent me just now:

I am selling my [2000] S2K for only 27995. if you know anyone looking. It's funny -- before I made the move on the NSX, I was gonna get on the list for the new Z.

As for the horsepower wars, you really hit that nail on the head. Acura has incredible plans for the not-so-distant future. You will start to see amazing performance enhancements and technological advancements -- really good stuff on the way. Acura will lead the way.
(Sounds like typical salesman talk but still good to hear it.)

Driving the NSX is a blast -- makes me wish my commute was more than only 3.5 miles. Funny thing is, the heads that turn are mostly guys, who know what it is. If girls even notice it, it's like "Oh wow, what's that, a Mitsubishi?" But the really cool chicks DO know what it is.

He's a whore, and he takes meat in the back!

Lucky little shit! I could drive an NSX just like him, but the effectiveness of trying to get laid inside the car, since I couldn't at that point afford housing anymore would be very shitty. Bathing would suck, as well as eating decent meals and entertaining folks. Man can only live sooo long on Cup-O-Noodles and peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches!

And I thought watching TV for 10 hours a day was a nice way to make a decent living!

service and sales people do have to put up with alot of shit though

U deserve a round of applause Seriously, sales and service are put through so much shit esp. by folks that are so anal and discouteous The dlrship I use to work for was one of the largest Honda dlrships in the country and had the highest Customer satisfaction in the tri-state area (one lady said we treated her better than infiniti lol). But the sales people had 2 always put up w/mad shit and w/peeps who had no trust in all in their salespeople and looked dwn on them .

Thats the funny thing about sales in general......especially if you're honest and constantly try to do the right thing (while of course trying to make the company and yourself the most money).

Not all people are bad, but being in car sales can be an uphill battle with customers....there are many that think your full of shit right off the bat and there is very little you can do to change that. Unfortunately, all the low lifes in the car business have instilled this mindset in peoples heads that "no" car salesman is honest. But, sales in general can be rough.

Agreed, but anyone making 100K is smart enough to spend their money elsewhere... The NSX is cool but not worth the $$

Viper, GT40 (when it comes out), Tuscan TVR, Vette, Lotus V8, 911 S4,SL500 are all better choices (of course IMO) ... and all are $100,000 or less.

NSX=outdated (nice desesign, handmade and such... )

ACURA=in trouble, in need of V8! and a major redesign... and another RWD car to compete in the $30-40k price range again.

Nissan is going to set a new pace with the 350z... And shoot the $50-60k sports car range into a new class with the GTR. It will be similar to when the Vr4 and the TT Supra came out. Acura is going to be in last place. They might end up suprising me... But I highly doubt it...

They need to morph the S2000 into an Acura and stick a nice 260hp 3.2L in it to get them back in the game.

Of course honda doesn't care... their income is not from sports cars...

Man if the NSX came stock with the power the Comptech supercharger kit gives it, I'd have my dream car. I love the NSX I just wish it had more power.
