My Passport 7500 just paid for itself!

I was on my way home from Taco Bell - with some crunch sensitive foods.. (nacho bellgrande and a tostada!) .. Was going about 45 in a 35 zone when I picked up some KA where I normally never do... Slowed way down looking for him.. eventually found him right when I was passing... I would have NEVER seen him and would have definitely been pulled over.. and if not given a ticket, at least my taco bell wouldn't be crunchy heh.. anywho.. Never let anyone tell you radar detectors aren't worth it!

I only tried the Grilled Stuffed burrito once, but the one time i did have it it was like 50% tortilla, 25% rice 15% other, and 10% meat... It could have been good if it wasn't so much tortilla. Maybe they just made it wrong.

I've only had It twice, but both times it was awesome I did however have to search for the nearest Taco Bell, not knowing where the closest one was located. The Two Taco Bell's that I went too both made an excellent Grilled Stuffed Burrito w/ Steak.

Most good radar detectors pay for themselves within the first year.

I don't eat at Taco Bell anymore for about a year now. ALL of their food is crap.

10 miles over ain't nothing

you don't get tickets for going 10 miles over. Shit, I drive 10-15 miles over the limit and the cop is passing me. When I'm doing 90-100 on 65 is when I'm worried... No tickets yet, thank goodness.

It depends on the town, time of month, out of state plates, etc. And 35 in a 25 is just about an instant ticket.

10 mph is nothing???????

Yeah,

Well don't try driving that fast in the City of Falls Church, Virginia!!!

Those ANAL RETENTIVE BASTARDS will and I do mean WILL pull you over for doing 26 in a 25 zone. These dickheads even pull over bicyclists who speed, that's ANAL!!!!!

Appreciate your radar detectors and the priviledge to use them, because we can't here in DC and VA - but f*%&k 'em, I do anyway. Come and get me!!!!

scl23 : those CHP cops are really cool in CA. Unlike the ones up here. When I lived in LA, I used to drive 75 on the freeway, and the CHP would just pass me without a second look. I miss that.

Seattle cops are all over the place and don't give a rats ass who, when, or where they pull people over at!!!! It sucks. I repect them and all, but I know there are better things some cops should be doing than chasing my innocent ass!!!
I definately need to get myself a detector, but don't want to deal with a cord, and don' treally know enough to hard-wire. Oh well.......

There were some pour souls in Burbank that got spanked for going 5 miles (or less) over the limit; this happened during one of those city-sponsored "ticket-thons".

BTW -- if you’re lucky, instant on (in the right location) will bounce around and give some intermittent Ka warnings.

I've had my 8500 for about 3 weeks now and it saved me the first day. How do you have yours mounted, mine sometimes taps the windshield when i hit a decent bump, it sits a little over 1/8" off the dash, right of center.

How does the Passport size up with the Valentine overall?

I am looking into purchasing a radar detector in the near future. I've always heard that the Valentine One is the best. Just curious before I make any final decisions...

Thanks!

Check out www.radartest.com. Read 'em and weep V-1 owners, 8500 really kicked V-1 ass in ergonomics/controls catagory. They said V-1 was definately heavier and bulkier. Still it's an awesome detector I'm sure but I have an 8500 and it even costs $100 less, looks better too. Imo. Late....... actually it's real fuckin' late (early) I guess I better get some sleep, only ones up are east coasters. peace dogs........!!!!!!!!!

This was one of my issues when I had the 8500. Every little bump make that thing rattle on the windshield. The V1 has a rubber strip where it meets the windshield, not even a pothole caused the V1 to rattle.
Try a piece of black electrical tape on the 8500's edge.

Not again you moron

They tested the older V1 against the new 8500. I bought both the new V1 and the new 8500. The new V1 is smaller, lighter, better range, better controls, more features, metal case (vs escort plastic).

The 8500 is still a good detector, definitely the #2 pick, and the best choice if money is a concern.

If you have the cash, get the V1. If not, get the 8500. These should be your only 2 choices!!
