My old CLS6 changed hands already

The guy I sold my car too locally in September apparently sold it to someone else. I saw it driving in my area today & managed to get him at a light. He said he bought it 2 weeks ago.
I mentioned the forum, see if he joins.

I was sad to see though he had a big dent in the rear bumper.

I dont even wanna ask that question. And my car broke on me several times but never disabled me (except of two broken axles) and i was able to fix everything that was wrong with it. Im just to picky on some things that annoyes me and i cant stand it. Thats why i need something new. Its still solid car. Some of u wouldnt even care about the issues i had and just kept driving it like nothing happened. I cant keep the car perfect anymore.

lol. since the car was heavily modded i was able to recoupe a very nice chunk of money back from selling all my aftermarket parts. i still have a few more things to sell. being that the car has a brand new motor in it (8k on it). that should help some with the resell value. im going to start looknig at craigslist, autotrader etc to see where the value is sitting at right now.

I blew the engine because there is basicly no engine managment for this car and no on the tranny. All the work by myself most of you would give it up long time ago i still enjoy the car but not as much as i used to.

Why do you care ? You sold it so what the hack are you doing here ?

Nope. And I didn't. But I look at the long term. Save $ in that aspect not putting $ into fixing a 9 year old car with 106K miles.

Yea, it some point you just have to cut your losses. My engine is still relatively "new", so I shouldnt have any serious repairs there. The car is paid off, so I might as well just get my monies worth right now. But if I get to a point where there is a high priced repair, its gone.

You guys are insane.. I'll keep mine forever unless its totaled or something along that line and i cant. What àre these "major repairs" you speak of.. its not unlikely to find fairly lower mileage motors for $5-600.. roughly the price on ONE car payment assuming you get something decent. For what cls are selling for these days, ill keep mine thanks

9 - 11 year old car, newer things on the market, moving on to something better, starting families (only really see this one on CL), you name it.

10-12k seems a a bit high, they are between 7 and 9k now in Vancouver BC Canada, and we have among the highest prices on the West Coast. These cars are between 75k and 110k km (not mi).

I kinda want a 2013 Hyundai Genesis (3.8) or a Lexus IS250 convertible and I just bought my CL 5 weeks ago...

I'll probably give mine away to a family member if I get a nicer car and the CL isn't dead, otherwise, the sig below holds true.

The only reason I bought a CL was because it either the CL of a 99 civic hatch rebuild... I do love it though and I still smile every time I drive it

Your about 35-40 miles from me and I see many going from 6-10K with those miles so maybe you should look harder.

Transmissions are about twice the price of the engine. Or, from another standpoint, 1/6th the value of the car.

Whats the alternative? Selling the car with a blown trans? Fixing the trans and selling it for book value? You're still left with a big payment either way

I was looking at
$850 for axles(OEM from dealer)
$400 for R&R of leaking rear XS header
$850 for a clutch
$250 for mounts
That's after I spent $1400 on the 105K service & a new power steering rack 7 months before & $800 on tires 2 months before.
That's $4500 in less then a year in repairs. On a car that was 9 years old & had 106k miles.

Wow where to start. Spending nearly $1000 on oem axles for, as you put it, a 9 year old car, is absurd. Not sure what r&r means, reweld?..but you could buy 3 sets of xs headers for that price. I bought and installed my clutch for less than $400.. Hell I did an entire 6 speed swap with all new maintaince parts (tb, water pump, plugs, clutch, gaskets, etc) for a little more than half that!! Everyone is obviously entitled to their own decisions, but I think you could have done all that for much cheaper and had the car last another 100k at least. Now I may be a rare breed...but to me its better than being stuck with a new car payment. Meh, guess I just like my car

If one were foolish and went the route of a new transmission (6 speed) from Delray it only costs:
Part# 20011-PYZ-C62 Transmission Assembly
$4,731.84
331.23 Shipping Charge
3.95 Handling Charge
$5,067.02
Even if they took 5% off the online price, about $95, the tranny is almost worth the cost of a used CL. Then of course there is sales tax for Floridians.
