My New CL Fog Lamps!!!

Okay..I have been working on this project as first posted here a copule of months ago by Victor... I don't know if he still visits here, but I decided to try out his project and see how legit it was.

I purchased an extra set of road lamp housings and inserted an extra set of PIAA 1400X fog lamps inside the factory road lamp running 55W =85W according to PIAA specs. I have been running these for the past couple of nights probably a total of about 3 hours and so far so good, no sign of anything melting or overheating. I am using the Piaa Wiring, So I am NOT using the factor road lamp wiring. The factory housing lens gets warm but does not get hot.

See some pictures on my link if link doesn't work, just Highlight the link and paste in on the browser, and tell me what you guys think. I will post more instructions, if you guys are interested.

That does look good!! What would you guess is the amount of light put out with your new road lamps compared to the CL's lowbeams? 30%, 50%, higher? Again, nice work!!

Hey moomaster...I'm still around, had a new baby girl a few months ago and you know where all my time goes to now....

The fog lamps are wired as if you were going to install Piaa's anywhere in the car, Mine is wired on the parking lights, This way I can run the fog lights only if I want to without running the HID's

1) What I had done was I had a shop build a template of the Piaa lamp (the glass part), I then had them cut the back of the factory road lamp, It's just fairly thin plastic (despite the fact that they try and make it LOOK like a metal reflector). They just carefully cut the PIAA-sized cutout in the back of the housing, encompassing the original bulb hole, as well.

2) The PIAA is not actually attached to the road lamp housing, it was mounted behind it, then positioned to stick through the hole they made. The way it is connected with the housing is the a silicone sealent they used around the PIAA to keep out water.

3) the Piaa lamps sit back about an inch and a half from the
front lens. Most of the Chrome part of the PIAA sticks through the factory housing...obviously, for heat purposes, you want them mounted as far back as possible. This also allows for easier bulb-replacement down the road.

As for lightoutput compared to factory road lamps is a 110% improvement, they illumintae like if you were driving with standard halogen Headlights. these lamps actually illumintae real good, they illumintae the sides (curbs) on the road. Om my first initial test drive at night I was High Beamed 3 times in a spand of 20 minutes. I don't mean to blind people but I do want a good pair of fog lamps.
